Pretty early, when they decided to set it in an entirely different world than the first game. Knowing that none of the things we did would be followed up on, no plot threads would be set "this is how it went officially", none of those actions would have their long term consequences played out, killed any hope I had. It became clear that Fen had let Sav codify his DnD porn campaign, taking the name of the beloved game and doing what he wants with it. And then increasingly seeing content that had been drafted for CoC Classic be reworked and bastardized for CoC2 put the nails in the coffin. And Savin has always had a different tone to his writing that I don't jive with.

I can't even remember what version it was, but when I first tried it I was put off by the long intro and slow (compared to CoC1 and TiTS) combat. I only came back a year later to retry it on a whim and only stuck around because of Wsan's content.

Yeah I understand wanting to have the mc be treated as an outsider especially since our first official introduction to the Kitsune is as an intruder working for Evergreen. The problem that arises is that besides a few residents(who are also treated as outsiders) the player is made to fell like they're completely unwanted and that's not a good feeling to have when playing a game.

I sadly don't think I even lasted longer than the first year, like genuinely the last big thing I remember was the steam release/version. The game just never hooked me like CoC1 did to my sadness, even with what things it had I liked.
