Yeah, I've heard a lot of people come out with the "unmoddable" talk and didn't even bother trying to look at the game files to see if it was really impossible, I'd imagine there are probably a lot of coders in the same boat.
Iirc, it was never "unmoddable" and more of Savin&Co intentionally sabotaging their own code, to make modding as annoying as possible.
Isn't the problem not that it's impossible to mod but that all the work will just go in the trash when they update the game.
I love that their argument for that is, “The only reason you could have for modding the game is to put in content that’s illegal or that’s too poor in quality,” when it’s like … so what? It’s a mod. Yeah, no shit the Thomas the Tank Engine dragons wouldn’t have made it into the base game of Skyrim; does that mean that mod shouldn’t exist? People just want to have fun. (Not to speak of the million Skyrim mods that fix shit, are 100% lorefriendly, or are just outright better than the base game.) Also, the community submissions take fucking forever, and are vetted by this chucklefuck and Tobs, among others; you really think these guys are the end-all-be-all in terms of judging the quality of writing or storytelling? I think my “slutsune slut-wife” and her “mommy milker funbags” would beg to differ.
That's odd behavior lol. I understand indifference towards them but hate towards them is weird.
Any mods made with my modding tools is update proof as long as the dev doesn't mess with code (just like any other game). So you can have mods that will never need an update, and other mods that will need a little more updates, especially when modifying content that is still being worked on (just like any other game).
I use VSCode for everything, it's like a better version of notepad since it has dark mode and easy to install extensions
I wasn't around at the time but I heard that some mods added sex with kids. This brought some heat on the devs because people thought they were the ones to add that content.(was it uninformed news outlets or something or did patreon get upset?)

Allowing mods involves a lot of additional work for the devs. People like to mod games and then complain upstairs when it breaks their game, or when an update breaks their precious mod. They'd also have to vet any mod posted on their forum, because they're indirectly responsible for them, like steam is when they release a game with a virus.
...To be fair, I do want to punch her on the face repeatedly. Though that's probably more a "this game" thing, come to think of it.
