If they actually had characters getting pissed off and leaving or locking you out of areas like in CoC I, then I can understand their logic, but that would mean not only including tangible consequences for our actions but they'd need to get off their asses and account for different situations. You know, probably the entire point of the parser system instead of using it to track if Ryn need to be babied again or Berwyn's fifty variations.

God I forgot about that and now I'm mildly annoyed. What's with these fucking decisions? Why force on the players unnecessary and unreasonable ultimatums that absolutely nobody asked for which barely make any sense? It's obvious that the player's choices don't matter here so can we stop pretending they do by having to sit through these dumb decisions that serve nobody? The old game's decisions and ultimatums made sense because they were a direct result of your actions (which mattered ) and whether you were corrupted or not (a concept that doesn't exist in this game)

Komari is eternal. She's like Holden Bloodfeast. Also it seems like a weird contrivance since the isn't the whole point of the den mothers in the lore to have a bunch of kids? If anything it'd make more sense for the one we knock up to be the chosen heir because of that and that's the choice.

Also, Ibuki-Douji was hilarious in Samurai Remnant for how much she didn't want to get embroiled in an evil scheme.

Ibuki-Douji showed up to embarrass her brother, try to help Chiemon feel better, and ruin Gilgamesh's day. Truly the best character in the game. Her high stats and fun moveset really help too.

Regarding Inheritance (that was another post), great history, great premise, good writing, everything but gameplay, gameplay sucks ass, is the worst thing ever, like an inversion of a shitty visual novel pretending not to be a kinetic novel. Zero directions, zero clues, just your insane mc wandering through every richly decorated scenario trying to trigger this or that scene in order to advance the plot

Damn I hate random based gameplay, it's one of my biggest gripes with the first CoC.

Cait is so ingrained in act one and a lot of act two, it'd take rewriting the whole intro and touching any scene that her pink and white covered hands have so much as grazed. It'd probably be easier to rework flags to involve her for some scenes and let people truly ignore her. Someone would quite literally have to play through the game twice, once recruiting her and keeping her in the party and once not recruiting her, to get data on when and where she shows up and if she should even be there. I'm not volunteering

Take everyone's favorite pink waste of space, Cait. She was chosen to be a whore, while her sister got to basically be a princess. The narrative potential is sitting right there. Does she subconsciously resent her sister for being the lucky one or her father for making that choice? Does it make her secretly question her religion? Or does she feel like her religion gives her a purpose? I feel a quest line where you help her appreciate or distance herself from her position could have made her a lot of people's favorite. Nope, of course not. Character development is for suckers, apparently.

Hell, Tobes almost struck gold with Kyoko and Kinu, and I'm not just talking about while they are in the orb. You're telling me that your family, whom you could have seen an hour before in the dream world, has gone through a ten-year time skip, causing them to grow both distant and mistrustful of both you and each other? Hot damn, what a mystery. Did someone interfere with the ritual? Did the god Keros want a spiritual version of you that was easier to manipulate? Can't wait to go on a quest to figure this out while mending (or breaking) the family bonds! Wait, never mind, there is no mystery, and you're just stuck with a dysfunctional family.

It's just so sad to see them come so close and then fail to be interesting. and not just with these, but so many other aspects of this game as well that it's crazy.

It most often boils down to forcing the narrative. Considering her origins Cait should have all the reason to be conflicted, especially since if her mother didn't help them escape, she would spend the rest of her life in one place, a slave in a gilded cage. She could confront Salwah about the idea of bringing the cage over to her. Hell, if Mallach is somehow possessive of her, this could be a great connection for seeking help from Nareva, finding protection with another god.

It indeed could be a great story. But the authors want a mentally deranged slut kitten.

Ah, I almost forgot about her. It's so crazy the amount of character bloat this game has. I think that's what urks me the most about how Savin and co do updates. Would it kill them to save all the one off side character till after the main quest is done? Or at least, save them for certain months like Mayternity. But they just seem to obsess over one character, churn out a few scenes, and then toss them into the black hole to be forgotten. That Gnoll princess, Byvernia, the Drider Queen, the entire Marked Merk Mercenaries, Baroness Carmen, Lusina, the Frost Pupper... I'm probably forgetting a bunch...

And that's not covering all the other character that I remember hearing about but ended up being scrapped or memory holed. Einin of course is the most well known. I recall Birbs was wanting to add a Kistune femboy named Shion. IIRC I think he was going to be sort of like Berwyn right down to the tsundere aspect.

Then there was someone from /cocg/ that was working on a Minotaur baker that I think was suppose to go in the Winter City? She predated Milly. And unlike Milly, she was aimed more as a soft mommydom sort than corruption. (Though can I say that Milly's corrupt scenes are total weaksauce? Is that a hot take?)

Finally, the last character with art was this Kistune chick Jstar had on the backburner that I swear was meant to be Kazuo's daughter but for the life of me I can't find any mention of this on the forums. I swear on Kiyoko's baby bag I remember reading about this though feel free to correct me if I'm just having a schizo moment.

The rest of characters I can remember off the top of my head were all just vague concepts that I don't think ever seriously got past the planning stages and were thought up by Anons on /cocg/. I recall someone suggesting a steppe/Mongolian waifu that I forgot what race she was suppose to be. And another Anon was working on some bunny futanari spear girl and her MILF teacher that was going to lead to the champ fucking/dominating them both with a focus on musk (Was it William's ghost who came up with that I wonder?).

Going back to the topic of characters scrapped/memory holed. I remembered a few more designs/characters that I forgot in my previous post:

This is Gardeford's Kitsune, the woman in charge of the bathhouse. Dunno if she's still in the works or not, but she does make a cameo in one of Hotaru's scenes if I'm not mistaken? She gets mentioned in it at least.

This one I'm unsure of who was meant to write her. I imagine if I bothered to skim through the discord, I'd find out, but I don't particularly care to do that. Obviously she was meant to be a blacksmith. Would've been nice to be able to get some unique weapons and armor from her.
