It was the illusion of choice all along. Corrupted options in this game are half-assed at best and unfinished at worst. Not to mention they have no impact on our surroundings which would have been fucking cool and actually interesting. But it was all really just hand-waved and usually just denied you access to more content you would get on the pure path. I'm disgusted with just how lazy corruption is handled. You don't do shit to Ahmri or Eveyln and they are corrupted off screen. They literally handle corruption like playing easy baby mode on fucking Doom. They are so scared of their creations and lore being gritty and interesting that they erase or ignore any type of implications the world has. Like I don't care that Mallach is grooming kids or that the Kitsune were killing the Wlyd and fucking over the elves. Like that offers alot of interactivity and morality for the champ and the world. Being able to choose your own factions and decide why you choose them. Siding with the kitsune could be as simple as you simply wanting to protect your child-abusive wife and estranged daughter. And while Etheryn is your friend and feels indebted to you, she can only excuse your action to a extend until civil unrest begans to rise. Yeah you saved the city but you also allied with those chi-addicted fox bitches who actions lead to their decline in the first place. If it wasn't for them, they might have been better prepared against Kas, the old gods could have warn the druids or something. Even if the elves perspectives on the foxes are biased and based on hatred, that makes them even more believable and I dare say...interesting. Corruption of Champions was always something of a dark fantasy setting. In the first game you do what you did for the sake of survival or your own morality. You could be a brutal crusader of demons due to your encounter with the imp bat the begginning or the revelation told to you by the Omnibus. You could be a person who gets to live out their darkest desires in a world that pratically feels made for them, slowly gaining power and influence (not that you do this in the game but it really strokes your imagination and lets your role-play your fantasies without slapping your hand or dumbing down what you are doing).
But they are cowards who want everything to be safe or edge without any real meaning or impact( Like Gweyr, for example. A perfectly good waste of a possible corruption option. You can even get her to go back to hawkethrone because no-one really cares anymore, except for a named npc). Like this game has half-assed so much that it's nonsensical. They don't want you to corrupt others and feel it is wrong and cruel, but have enemies and npcs treat you like sex object more than a living being. Not to mention how brutal and cruel they can be to you. Corruption is being done off-screen to not trigger (I'm joking, it's clear they are being lazy and would just use this as a excuse)
They have latched onto Liaden only because she was explicitly called a lesbian by the devs. They don't give a singular fuck about other characters getting their gender and sexuality violated and/or changed by force.
It's been showing the most glaringly in the recent argument in the gripe thread, where they were jumping through increasingly elaborate hoops in logic, to explain why Champion has no right to have a sexual preference, and how it's actually good for Champ to be on the receiving end of the all the sexual assaults.
It's clear they are defending their kinks or just ass-slurping Savin. The game could easily go either two ways about defeats. They can be the actual safe space they respect your preferences and give someone your into to fuck you (Which is alot of work. Personally i'd be fine with losing if that got a bunch of the super strong minotaurs/demons dude to 'forcibly' worship my cock, balls, and body) or just a scene where they take some of your shit and leave. Then they could just be like, "Yeah this is rape and they don't give a shit about your preference and write it in a way that supports it. They don't have to do it all graphic and traumatizing like. Even if you feel some pleasure in the end, it was still against your will. They might have to change abit more about the lore. But the right of conquest is better than them killing you and if you aren't strong enough to venture out on your own, you should have hired some mercenaries to back you up. Only the strong can move around freely in the land you live in. Which is why people here are so much more tougher than others outside of it. They are constantly tested by other races and nature alike.
See savin lurkers,we are not just hating on the game for hatred sake. We are given constructive critism and offering alternatives. And yes you could say:"If it bothers you so much why don't you write it for the game?" Well, for me and others to do that we have to be sure it would get approved or have a decent chance of being approved, but sence we know the track record of that...eeeeeh. Not to mention we aren't going to be paid to put in content that should have been in the game in the first place. I don't want to rack by brain making interesting characters only for them to be changed in ways I don't like or care for.
No writer or Author should ever be free from criticism and opinion, that's how they grow. If you stop watering a plant it stagnates until it dies. If you water it too much it will die from being over-fed and drowned. What Savin did was stupid, he shouldn't have taken part in a game where he hates one of the main aspects of it and wasn't willing to pay people to do that for him. It is very clear to me that alot of inspiration for this game and npcs most likely comes from him playing Hopepunk table-tops with no real stakes. I have a great dm who empowers us as players but also challenges us constantly with combat. Our choices matter and have long-reaching ramifications for the future. One of my fellow players hard focused on romances a character he liked at the expense of helping his own village, his friendship with the party, and some of his sanity only for him not not only get rejected by the npc, hurt the trust his party had in him, and his village is most defintely a ghost town now for whatever might have happened to them.
That shit is great! I'm getting off topic, but player agency is a must for these types of games. Unless they have a groundbreaking porn and story.
Everyone who seems unreasonably hateful really, REALLY wants this game to live up to its potential and the promises made before it got big. If you are truly a person of free thought, you would atleast try to see it from someone elses perspective instead of mindlessly defending someone simply because you like Savin and co or just didn't like the content. I mean, I HATE submissive shit and characters even hinting at wanting to dick me because I'm the Dickler in my fantasies. But would that mean I would be happy that context got removed? Hell no, people are right to be pleased when someone promised to them is taken away from them.
