Almost everyone sucks in the coc2 world. Also it's pretty hilarious how one god basically has brothels instead of churches. I also think the grooming church is annoying because it made someone like Cait. I don't hate her for having sex all the time like others do I just dislike her character.
To be honest, I'm fine with Cait, even with her fucking everything with a pulse. I mainly dislike the special treatment she gets from the Devs and her being shoved in your face, the fact that it's nigh impossible to ignore her if your not constantly skipping through all the text and automatically getting forced into her questline at the beginning of the game. If it weren't for all that, I think I would like her a lot more ironically - surprisingly it's easier to appreciate a character who you have a choice in indulging as opposed to a character your forced to include in your playthrough.

Honestly, this part of the game feels slightly like an identity crisis.
On one hand, devs wanted to make companions who are more than just throwaway characters - they matter in the storyline and are practically vital characters. Something akin to a JRPG, where usually party members are introduces via main plot and are always technically with you, just not in the gameplay.
On the other, they also wanted to make companions optional and something you can miss. If you just follow the main storyline - you only encounter Cait, Brint (sort of? He is just there the second you step in the forest as in "Yo, heard you need a 3rd party member that deals damage") and Ryn. And only they seem to matter in the actual main plot.
Cait because she got you into this mess.
Brint because Khor'minos is very important.
Ryn because Winter City (I can't believe they actually used placeholder generic name and only now gave it actual name)
That's why this disconnect exist. Those party members have legitimate reasons to be a part of the main storyline, while others... have almost none? So naturally, they have more presence. While I (unfortunately) don't have any info on companion popularity poll (please give if it exists), I'd assume them having more presence (and being impossible to skip) results in them being more popular, so more scenes and content overall.

Love that their disorganization is chalked up to being "complicated". Like, my brother in Christ just draw the bust. Don't keep making ones for Brienne and Kiyoko
Edit: The Lureling has a bust and a silly-mode variant of its bust. Not even sex-able so doesn't even necessarily need a bust.
Just another example of their incompetent disorganization,it would make sense to have an artist start making a bust for a new character you're add to the game wouldn't it;but no their logic is we'll have one drawn up later

Actually, do you have the poll? I remember people talking about Brienne beating out Kyoko as the reason for Tobs writing a scene where she is raped, but I've never seen the full poll. Was it posted here?

Only thing i remember about the poll is cow sitting comfortably on first place, then suddenly Kiyoko rising back up right as Brienne also got a bunch of random last places Tobs and his goblerinos, dude.
But yeah, Cait was like 3rd or 4th place with a huge margin from 2nd. As far as i'm concerned she's not worse than Quint because she's at least fun to make of, and really my headcanon is that she's the team's moral punching bag only coming out of her room to get told to go back in (as opposed to Quint who's not even good for that and thus lies dead), but either way that she's virtually no one's first pick despite being the character with the most content in the game (and also with the most ties to the main story) tells me she's up there to begin with only because she has a lot of content, not the other way around.
If only Savin dropped the cat and started focusing on Kaz and Arona. Been doing that recentely and hopefully it isn't in preparaiton of some Cait guzzling at the hobo shelter or some shit.

It wouldn't make a giant difference but I feel like there's room for orc tavern content, like instead of going in there and being roughed up or assaulted after becoming recognized, maybe they clap you on the shoulder and encounters become more consensual, you get the option for small talk and lore about the orc culture at the bar or can go up to the male or female warriors and go "wanna fack?" all orc like. Maybe have one off dialogue options for orc characters connected to them, maybe arona dom or sub expresses her pride, stuff like that.
Kitsune den could use that too but seems like no matter what you do for them, give to them, do for kiyoko or the other members, saving their scouting party, give them priceless artifacts, you're always poo unless you straight up literally sell your soul and are then gold lined poo. Save kiyoko from being forever alone and her children from an eternal prison by routinely letting her nom your soul, fighting through a whole den, refrain from killing any of them when they'd just straight up decapitate you given the chance, and get a audience with her god, well, you're still her barbarian ho and you should be thankful for that privilege. You have no more role in your daughters life and your blood (soul) transfusions are welcome. I know tobs hates Japanese people but c'mon.

.I also have a feeling Kiyoko is only up there because she indulges a pretty common (and imo fucking annoying) fetish that is breeding. That and because she does wife things, even though it doesn't even remotely seem like she loves you. Cait's probably up there because of sheer content size and some weird stockholm syndrome shit. I refuse to believe people genuinely like her as a person.
Honestly besides Atugia and Brienne, I don't like any of the companions really. All the others either focus on shit I don't like or something about their character just really bothers me.
Cait's really easily likable as a person, more than most of the companions. She's a super basic, friendly bubbly chick who's down for lots of sex. People are obviously going to like her.
I don't mind her, she's just too vanilla to really tickle my balls.
I like pretty much all the companions to some degree though....except Quin.
