I think the negative scenario would've been the other way around, to be honest. Someone hopping from CoC2 to something better is perfectly fine.Actually. At least one guy in fenoxo forums have bought that game on steam because it had Kinu in it.
Dare I say benefitial in the long run, assuming this other project doesn't carry similar troubles.
I will point out that the whole bit about loving updates is slightly wrong for starters, far as I recall the CoC2 updates weren't exactly hitting 100% even at the start. The first page of this thread had people knocking Savin so it wasn't exactly all rainbows and sugar clouds.Didn't want to snip this because it's a good post but I will because it's fucking huge
On that note, I think it kinda goes both ways. Some of the crew involved with this project are known for being abrasive, naturally attracting vitriol from others in response. Unlike most cycles, I doubt the latter stopping would improve the other.
I will say that, probably as a result of replaying it, I now find what they made as a rather puzzling mix of things. I found some of it legitimately fun like the quest with Garth's wife (one of the few occasions where a wordy section was worth the effort to read) and dealing with some of the NPCs (usually the less important ones like Lusamine or Clementine). I don't mind that harpy that shows up on the Wayfort and I also appreciate being able to spruce up the place in many ways to make it more remarkable and even profittable.
But reaching those require going past several word floods and the odd bit of "my NPC is special, dammit" that you eventually have to go through. I lowkey barely finished the bee girl and lesbian knight quest because I'd always end up finding something else that seemed more relevant to do. If it wasn't for the Wayfort, I'd never have found it. I also realise now that I haven't really recruited the bee which is probably why I wasn't given the option to play wingman for her.
And that brings up how some things in the game just aren't worth the effort. Swear it feels like every one in three quests presents a strong likelihood of the PC stumbling upon a girl who imconveniently happens to have a penis. Sometimes, it's not even telegraphed but you can just feel it coming miles away. Hell, you can even sort of hear the theoretical dungeon master saying "and she has a peeeeenis~" with the downside of not just slugging the fucker on the jaw for springing the eleventh futa on that day alone.
It's also a bit hard to get to things because the game can't go three steps outside a safe zone before springing a battle because, as it turns out, levelling up requires a fuckton of XP so you're just stuck with more fights than a Bruce Lee flick. Even worse than that, you don't even get that once you reach the level cap but you're still stuck fighting them.
I will say, however, that I agree with the sentiment that CoC2 isn't worth getting angry with. Game's a mess but it'll eventually come to end and we'll move on sooner or later.
That Toughness bit helps out, not gonna lie.Mostly improved quality of life and game mechanics stuff:
-Charmers got super-buffed & now can wreck the shit of enemies immune to their teasing.
-Backgrounds are now accesible to all classes thus you can make more combinations during character creation.
-All classes gotan Accuracy bonus and Agility's accuracy bonus got slightly nerfed, this to make hitting enemies easier for characters that don't level Agility.
-Toughness now increases your HP slightly better & Cunning helps lower your threat level.
