The plan iirc is for any harder bdsm content or more niche content, there will be a choice to skip it. Since the game doesn't actually save choices, this was just a one-off for the dev to get a feel for how he might tease optional content in the future. Its not that he backed out, but more he has been focused on other aspects of the story and hasn't come back to any foot events.

Basically, every choice in the game boils down to "See more of this" or "get back to the story". As others said, no choices are saved in variables, so essentially it allows people which don't want to see something, to no see it.

Nope, never planned to do more with it. It was just there as part of Akatsuki exploring her newfound ability to get the MC hard. Originally the scene just had the MC saying he's not into feet with no choice at all, but I added the choice just to give a bit of flavour for the players that do like foot stuff. The mention of foot stuff in the planned tags is currently only for a single planned scene where the foot stuff makes sense and it's really only there to lead into something else.

Heh heh. This is one of those horrible/delightful dilemmas a writer comes across: do you go with what you know is true, or what everyone (including both your audience and your character) believes? Closely related to The Tiffany Problem, though not identical. Each case is different, but I think this time going with the common error is the right choice.

Oh yeah, tell me about it! My counterpart and I are constantly having debates about that in our own story-writing. Or, well, dispassionate discussions about it at any rate. Either way, it's a right difficult choice when it comes to dialogue and grammar! Most people simply do not bother with the whole "Never end a sentence with a preposition" thing, but as a writer you have to keep that in mind or people just will not be able to take you seriously.

...But at the same time, as I just said, most people hardly care at all about such details. So when you write intentionally "incorrect" character dialogue to make it feel more naturalistic, yet the narration / prose is grammatically correct, it comes across as really weird and inconsistent. Which of course creates the dilemma... So many people assume writing is easy. It really is anything but.

Agree with KS. While it may be factual that among cultures with totem poles most place the highest importance at the bottom, "most cultures" on the planet don't have totem poles at all. So a game reference that makes intuitive sense to the vast majority of players (even if it may be factually incorrect) is easily the better choice.

Sort of like "apes together strong" being a big catch-phrase from the modern Planet of the Apes movies...even though chimpanzees, gorllas and orangutans are really Great Apes (along with the humans they oppose) and there are no gibbons in the story. So while that expression technically is not quite factual, it works dramatically.

[Best choice would obviously be to avoid culturally insensitive references in the first place, but it is what it is.]
