Hey guys, welcome to dev log 45!
I'm not quite sure what to include in this one - usually I like to be pretty positive, and list all of the things I've achieved in the last couple of weeks working towards the next update. But this has been the most frustrating couple of weeks of development I've had in the 2 years since I started Cosy Cafe!
My aim, as you know, was to get most of 0.12 written by the time of this dev log. Unfortunately I've spent most of the last couple of weeks neck deep in bug fixing for the new UI. Most of the first week was spent getting it to work on android; which I did at long last, in time for the public release.
"Finally!" I thought, I can move on to my favourite part - the writing! And I did, long enough to get 10,000 words into 0.12. Only to then discover that something in the code for the new UI is breaking saves in future versions of the game, not just with saves from before 0.11. So then I've spent days trying to fix that - which I still haven't.
I thought that commissioning someone else to build the new UI was gonna save me a tonne of time, but at this point that's turning out to not be the case unfortunately.
Still, I don't want to be too negative - I really do love how it turned out (when it works), I think it looks great, and the new features are awesome:- but my god is it driving me up the wall!
I wasn't sure if I should include all of that in this post; as I said, I really do prefer to be positive. But I thought it was best to keep you all informed, warts and all! So, having got that off my chest, I wanted to finish with something a little nicer by including a custom render set that one of you commissioned around Christmas - enjoy!
I'm determined to make much more progress with the 0.12 writing in the next couple of weeks, even if I have to abandon the UI/save issue for now - so next time I hope to have a much better report for you all! Until then, thanks for your support; I appreciate it as always!
