VN Ren'Py Cosy Cafe [v0.13.1 EA] [Cosy Creator]

Don't normally comment, but this has been one of the best and well thought out renpys I've played, in my top 5 for sure. The story is simple, a classic with a harem twist and well detailed. The renders n cgis are great, just overall great!!

Right? This game’s smoother than MC’s pickup lines and warmer than Cosy's coffee!
It snuck into my top 5 like a sneaky side quest and now I’m emotionally invested in everyone… even the background furniture.

This just made me think: The MC will have to disappoint a lot of unfortunate girls who will just not make it into his harem, some despite being a very good fit by being very submissive. I wouldn't mind if he would offer some of them jobs as tasteful café furniture for decent pay and occasional family favors or even scenes with the MC subject to approval by the harem. This could start as a special BDSM event similar to the cosplay week but open to temporary extra staff because not all the main girls would be comfortable participating, and could become a regular feature for Saturday night. I believe there are some good Honey Select assets for this kind of thing, featured most prominently in Lisa Tot. Inv.

Such a BDSM event could be an attempt get the maximum out of a bet lost by Akatsuki's sister Akira. (Akira: "If you beat me in this cooking competition, I will work for you as a waitress for a week." -- MC: "Good. Is next week OK? But there is going to be a special event with some rotating extra duties for all waitresses." -- Akira: "No problem. You are not going to win anyway." -- (Later, after winning.) MC: "Girls, we need a spicy special event for next week when Akira will join you as a waitress. Maybe something with a little public humiliation? But tasteful and not too extreme." -- Victoria: "Oh, I know exactly what we need! Just let me do the planning. Sarah, can you help with the costumes? I will order the frames.") I can see Rachel becoming very enthusiastic and Catherine throwing a colossal fit and escaping through the technicality that she is a dishwasher not a waitress, while Lucy ultimately jumps over her shadow.

The nice thing about this kind of idea is that it would temporarily feature some side girls, and then instead of completely discarding them would show them in the background once a week and occasionally make one get a small role in the main plot.

This part was why I decided to give it a try, and boy am I glad I did. Needed some wholesome in this bleak version of the world.

Not necessarily. I think as a Founding Family Head he can lean into tradition of having more wives & girlfrieends for "political" reasons and have a few more girls as fuck-buddies even if they aren't fully part of the harem. Most of the harem members are from the families and would be likely to accept that without much pushback - the ones who might need convincing are Vicki and Lucy

Wouldn't say the background furniture, I'm usually a mostly high action/adventure reader and movie watcher, but this was kinda like a mellow/cute, relaxation type of deal for me i guess lol

is my favourite moment in any AVN I have ever played.

I thought maybe it would lose it's charm the second time through but no, it is still absolutely brilliant. Funnily enough the only competition I can think of for this sequence involves a similar scenario with a similar girl, albeit in a different game that takes an enternity to finish.

I honestly can't see it being anyone other than Rachel. Still to this day White-Hair barely even registers as a character to me, no offense.
But maybe that'll be the next development and I will be pleasantly surprised.

I did a long post about this on Discord. My bet is Rachel. Lucy, Kitten, Vicky, Hannah, Sarah have their jobs. A way to do it would be have Rachel clean dishes and make Catherine serve, but the MC doesn't really break contracts. So you have Akari (who would cook), Misaki and Alison wont do anything while school is in session. That leaves Annabelle, Charlotte, and Elizabeth. Doubt Lizzy, Annabelle wasn't part of the plan originally, and was added after people liked her. That leaves Charlotte or Rachel. Since Rachel is a "main" LI, and Charlotte hasn't been introduced yet, betting its her.

I've been thinking about it, and we've got a few candidates.

Rachel - Probably most likely if/when she gets a redemption, but I don't think that'll be soon so I would guess she'll assume a position after the next one is filled.

Annabelle - Possible, but I don't know enough about her or her family situation to decide if being a waitress would be something she could handle in regards to society. Cosy did mention that her promotion to main LI was a timing thing, so that's why she gets 2nd best odds in my opinion.

Elizabeth - If she thought being a waitress for MC would hurt her mom/brother then I could see this being a real possibility. I honestly think she would see the benefit. It'd be a good way to bring Elizabeth into the MC and the other LI's orbit as well, which so far hasn't happened.

Catherine - I'm putting her last, as I think the MC is quite happy having her as his personal princess dishwasher, BUT it would also make the most sense for her to move positions into a waitress as she's already familiar with the whole dynamic. I also think this would allow Rachel to move into dishwasher mode.

Unknown Childhood Friend - For completionist sake I'm putting her down here, as I could see a scenario where she shows up, needs a place to stay/money and is immediately brought in as a waitress though not specifically as a LI, but I'm not putting much stake into this theory.

Alison, Misaki, and Akari I don't see as possibilities at this junction for various reasons. Mika is obviously a no go, as are Sarah's sisters. Chloe isn't a hard no to my knowledge, but extremely unlikely.

I’ve heard about this game a long time ago, but I finally finished it. One word: astonishing. My deepest gratitude to the developer: the dynamics of the plot, the text itself, unique characters, even small details create an absolutely amazing (and cosy!) story. It gives... hope? I guess this is my weak spot - beautiful stories about relationship where characters become better personalities. Seriously, I was more worried about MC’s and his girlfriends’ relationship than I was about my own.

Really, really looking for more updates.

Rachel would have to be a long way off, I would imagine, she isn't exactly Miss Popular.

Assuming no other girls are being introduced, that only really leaves Annabelle.

The only viable waitresses I see are actually Catherine or Elizabeth. The others don't fit because of one reason or another - Rachel and Annabelle need character development (also Annabelle is a clutz of epic proportions), the childhood friend (iirc) ain't coming before the time-skip, the other girls have jobs. Cat's sisters are too young to be employed. The other girls have jobs.

Another thing I have been thinking, is Annabelle a klutz for real, first she just fell, that could just be maybe she is not used to walking in heels, the second thing she backs up and knocks over the water, eating till she almost threw up is not a klutz thing, maybe she just was nervous.

We have "wives" so why not add "daughters"? Cat can move up to do waitressing, and her sisters could clean dishes in exchange for eating free meals.

They may be too young to work in most countries, but it's a game. They could just put it down as work experience. Hell, they could even say they're just small for their age. Ella is 16 and Ivy is 15.
