Oh I've been playing a few updates now, I just never really comment on this site, so I know it'll be worth the wait. But god do I wish I found more avns when they're already complete so I don't have a huge waitlist waiting for peak
I always played completed or very near completed VNs until I found this one a year or two ago. Now, I have four games, all HS/HS2 that I'm waiting to see finished, and I know all of them will take several more years yet. I don't know if my patience and my life will allow that kind of wait.

I've always had the bad luck of seeing something interesting, reading through it in a week, realise it needs an update and then waiting months for an update to come, and then I forget about a few of them and find them years later and they're updates further so I can play them all over again :HideThePain:

Currently have like 9 waiting for updates, but on the positive side I've got so many more I'm either currently reading or am planning to read so at least I'll have a lot to waste away my time when I'm not at work or playing other games.

I actually have a spreadsheet of the "in work" games I play.
There seems to be an inverse correlation between how much I want games to update and how often they do. :-(

Just started playing this. Protag's relationship with Lucy is giving me crazy creepy vibes. Way too trusting, way too soon, on way too little, way too obsessive...
Seriously, picking a fight with 5 people on your first day at school, because you overheard them nicknaming someone you met yesterday something innocuous, and then antagonizing the student council president because you're too busy with your "girlfriend" to bother with the formalities... this dude is going to end in prison by the end of the week at this rate.

Tell me, how many decades has it been since you were a teenager? Five, at least? Just about everything you are describing is pretty typical teenager behaviour. And it's also obvious you have not gotten far at all into the story, since the MC himself tells both Lucy and Victoria barely a week in about how violent he was in the past, constantly picking fights for no other reason than to just fight.

There is also the fact that the MC has a pretty huge "hero complex" as someone later calls it, and though he first denies it, he later on admits that he really does have one, and he simply can't resist helping out a pretty girl in need.

...You may want to rethink your position just a bit, is my point. ;)

So on a completely unrelated note, I kind of feel like there needs to be a bit "more" in this one part of the game...

...It all just feels a bit odd, kind of "rushed" I suppose? I just feel like there needs to be a bit smoother of a transition between the two scenes.

This is content from the first update it looks like.

I'm sure that Cosy looks back on this and wonders what he could've done better.

Yeah, there's a hell of a lot I would change about the early content, especially the stuff from 0.1 like that. I feel like if I redid 0.1 then it would go from 40k words and 1700 renders to 70k words and 6000 renders just covering the exact same stuff only better and in more depth. But, ultimately, after discussing it a lot with players over the last year or two I decided it's best to just leave it as is - a relic from before I'd really got the hang of it.

I'm glad you didn't go down that route. It's fine as it is. Sure it could be better? But look at all the games that go into this rework cycle. It's rarely worth it. My view is to work on finishing your project first, and afterwards if you want to make improvements to the early stuff, no one will complain.

If nothing else, it could be something for after 1.0 is finished.
yeah if he wanted to,he could even leave a option in the main menu,or choice at the start to play the original/legacy 0.1
i think most users on here are used to how things go for new devs.
they only hate it when they focus to much on reworks resulting in delayed new content.

Could the early game be better? Yes. Is it better then most games I have played? also yes. If you want to polish after the games is done fair enough but trust me I have seen so much worse and I kinda like it in a way but that might just be me.

Cosy Cafe have a looong story to be told so the dev is wise to simply keep going with the original project. Maybe he will make all the additions he want when the game will need a renovation with a new engine (so years after the completation) with something like "Cosy Cafe Remake"

Or if he want to do something easier after the release of version 1 on patreon he can work along with his new game to a "Cosy Cafe Remastered / Cosy Cafe: Definitive Edition" with the old engine.

Anyway even if one of those scenarios will ever come into fruition there are years ahead of us before thinking seriously about ;)

If in-game pacing is a big concern for you, you might find yourself pretty frustrated with some parts of this game. I love the hell out of it, but yeah there's a few things that just move way too fast. That said, I don't entirely think the relationship with Lucy is one of them; yes, it does feel a bit rushed on the first go-round, but once you e played a bit deeper it will make sense.

It always amazes me just how boring some people's childhoods were. Like if you've never ended up in an 8 on 10 brawl because you ripped some dude's little brother off when he wanted you to boot smokes or liquor then have you really lived?
Little shit too. Got him a 40 of corona instead of a 26 of whiskey and he went and told his older brother it was an empty 40 of corona.
Anyway fights are completely fucking normal at that age. 5 on 1 is a little much, unless it's Piper Perry, but completely within realms of reason if you're just beaking them.
