I was baffled by how boring some people's childhoods were, not that they were different. Even if someone else didn't grow up with their entire friend group ending up selling drugs at one point or another I can't comprehend someone's upbringing to be so boring that they think that's unrealistic.
Even the goody goody preps at my high school weren't that naive about that kinda shit.

I would not call a childhood without rampant violence, drugs and general criminality boring. In fact, where I am from I would call it normal. Sensible parents will, even in deepest poverty, do their best to insulate their children from the worst of it and raise them NOT to be violent thugs and criminals. Hell, even during the wars most parents here did their best to keep their children as insulated from the war crimes as one reasonably could.

So it's not that we don't believe you went through what you did. It's just that we are frankly shocked that you consider it anything but a nightmare.

I should probably write a review, but I'm too lazy and only want to talk about MC.

So... MC is great. No, seriously. I'm amazed at how well the author understands concepts of boundaries, man's self-respect, and humiliation. Most importantly, what is the most common and annoying thing with other creators — this MC isn't okay with being belittled or humiliated outside of sex/during casual conversations, even if it is by a hot girl. Simply, he won't be a doormat, just because he wants to score. On the other side, he isn't an asshole. He is a kind person who cares for those who are close to him and doesn't mind some banter or meaningless insults. So yeah, he doesn't mind being called an idiot or a perv by Sarah, because he gets that those are not really meant to hurt him or belittle him. And it's consistent.
With all those perverted loser MCs, or abusive assholes, that is something refreshing.
