I would have preferred Mist 2 to the bdsm game...simply not my fetish
Unfortunately, there are no plans for that. It seems that the developer has vowed to focus on short and simple projects that exploit popular fetishes, rather than large-scale projects. Well, that's probably wise, although his new game isn't very popular yet.

Glad to see that he finally pulled the plug. Sad for those who liked this project of course, but this just never got the audience Mist had. He already has a succesful game with that. Why not build on to that and make it even better?

Not a fan of the Handcuff stuff either and I agree that Mist 2 could be an absolute banger. Don´t rly understand the need to reinvent the wheel. Especially since you already have characters that the Players loved.

I am so sad to hear these news but thte dev did was was right for him -and will be the one to pay the piper- os it is what it is. For me Morn WAS Mist2. The little easter eggs like the cabin painting in the shop(?) or the fact that Queen Morn was underwater as were all the dead, nurturing and demanding, it made me think about how the realm of the demigoddess was a vast expance of water. It could be that Queen Morn was the entity that merged with the Director during the accident. The world with pieces of technology of today could be the world after the Mist catastrophe. The demons and shadows too. Theories and potential that will not come to pass...

I feel you. I really liked what was being built up and it got canceled after such a strong start. It honestly pissed me off. Now, I understand the dev had their own thoughts, ideas, and priorities, but that's not gonna change me being pissed about it. Too many devs are doing this so I can't stand supporting them anymore.

CoM was too niche, so the dev has rightfully decided to move on, and focus on a game with a single girl, with one body type, and an SM theme.
I get it, he was probably thinking, "Mist was a great success, maybe I should get back to my foundations, and work on a game with a story that pulls you in like that."

Mist 2, really? The first game ended on a good note, no need for a sequel; storywise as there's no adversary anymore. Something fresh and new is nice, or else it will be like Shrek and Ice Age at the level of milking the franchise.

Fucking motherfucking fuck.
So one of the BEST games now dead because... what? Stupid people wanted MUH MEEST TWO? Mental/physical/financial/whatever fatigue?
I loved CoM.
But I'm not sure i want to try that new handcuffs thing. Dev stepped on very shady road of cancelling projects, and now it has super high chance to end like CoM very soon.

It's sad to see it's gone, but Covenant of Morn never ticked it for me, as Mist did. Two years of development without anal tag and too much fantasy stuff.
I'm glad that dev switched to other project instead of just leaving, like many other with failed games.

Been seeing this a lot lately.
Of course I primarily notice it in devs that I like, since those are the ones I watch, but the common theme is, "My substantially incomplete game isn't selling, I'm going to have to cancel it."
On to the next title, where the same occurs, and they spiral. Games stop selling because they stop being completed, they earn a reputation of not completing games so no one buys in early, and somehow they never seem to figure out that it isn't a lack of interest.

Really bummed by this one, Mist is one of my all-time favorites and I was really into what we got of Covenant of Morn. Can't really argue with the given reasons, but I doubt acquiring a reputation for abandoning projects is going to make the financial situation better.

Unfortunately, the Handcuffs game doesn't seem to be anywhere near up my alley so I'm out for a bit. If the dev sticks to the shorter-turnaround model and it pans out for them, maybe the next one will pique my interest.

Well shit.
Another dev that I'll stop supporting. I can't for the life of me imagine that they'll end up financially better with this decision than continuing CoM. The handcuffs game is alright, but there are dozens of other games doing pretty much that.

Oh well, wish the dev the best.

this may sound pessimistic but he will never reach the heights that mist allowed him to reach. his render quality has stagnated and the writing hasn't gotten any better, all while keeping that outdated sandbox style of gameplay.

While I’m also pretty sure it will be next to impossible to get another Mist-level game, I cannot agree at all with the statement of the render quality.
CoM is miles ahead Mist in visual quality on the main models and backgrounds. As its MGLH.
Writing and gameplay can be indeed discussed. But renders? No way

when you compare them to something that was released nearly 7 years ago that is true, however when you compare it to some of the stuff you see nowadays it's clearly lacking. the render resolution itself probably gives it away the most.

Well. When you said that the render quality has stagnated I thought you were referring specifically to the Blender works of Rathieu himself.
It doesn’t make any sense to compare his works with other stuff out there, given that many of the top AVNs are still honey select, and even many of the Daz works cannot compete with blender.

Dang, that sucks. But i guess the transparency is more appreciated than other devs who would just erase everything and disappear without a word or those that say stuff is being worked on but let their acc drain money for a year or more with nothing to show.

Hope this dev finds success in his new game/future games and can eventually come back to this in some way.

I'm sad to see it go, I enjoyed it even if the story started stagnating a bit. Following up Mist was always going to be a tall order, and I think he did his best, but better to kill it now rather than have a breakdown or start milking. I look forward to the next MGLH updates.

Damn shame. I always like a game that can pull off Porn With Plot well. I also liked the art style even if it's theoretically a little weird. Maybe I'll check out weird handcuffs game, but I'm not optimistic about loving it.

E: Ah, the Patreon Problem. Overly zealous censorship masquerading as moral policing strikes again.

This one hurts. Mist is one of my favorite completed projects so I was eagerly awaiting a follow up of any sort from 395, but I never even started CoM because I wanted there to be a lot of content because I kinda hate going update to update on every project. I financially supported 395 for about 6 months on Patreon because I liked Mist but I haven't supported them in years so I kinda feel in some part partially responsible for its failure which blows. I wish the dev the best and I hope they're able to find financial security somehow.

Well, I'm actually not surprised.
I think the first sign was when he decided to rewrite part of it (the first scenes) and that the whole thing was way too overplanned, which can either lead to a successful product or, as in this case, to hitting wall after wall until you get completely stuck and drained by your own project.
Myst was a good game because he had fun creating it chapter by chapter, without huge plans behind it, or at least that’s how I remember it.

There’s nothing to be ashamed of. I think it’s really mature to consider the personal side and how this would have affected his finances. Some devs decide to keep going and milk it for years, so again, it was somewhat a mature choice, even though a risky one, as abandoning something is always a double-edged sword.

Wishing all the best for the new game and maybe it could also give some inputs for continuing this one.
