Thats due to the way they were raised. Chinese women who follow the old values aren't as free with their sexuality as western women. Hell even a woman being in the same room as a man with a door closed is frowned upon and liable to bring potential harm to that family through rumours which would make it difficult for that woman to get a husband in future. Also, some cultivation techniques require a man or women to stay a virgin or they would lose their cultivation completely. I've also seen in one story where a woman popped her hymen and used it's blood to cure the main character because he was at deaths door just because female virgins within her bloodline had special power.
This fellow Daoist is enlightenment in Wuxia/Xianxia concept.

Astrid: "Ok so... I live by a code: repay kindness with kindness"
Imo, she actually lives according to the dao of karma; completing karmic cycles by paying the karmic debt owed and as a result, being unshackled by karma. No matter if it's kindness (positive karmic cause) or resentment (negative karmic cause)

(I took a little inspiration and reasoning from Xian Ni and Journey of the fate destroying emperor)

My thoughts on the time skip:

MC will still age, learn, and ascend while trapped in this separate realm. He will return with the body of a 30 year old.
And a wild theory of mine is that whenever Yua comes to visit him at the place he got Thanos'd he can hear her and possibly even see visions of her. So he's not entirely out of the loop of everything that has happened in those 10 years.

Also, where the fuck is Jake and why do his 2 closest friends act like they don't give a shit about him? When's he gonna return?

It's quite possible he's left on Earth.

So am I understanding this correctly, that this game has been on hiatus for over a whole year until now?
Yeah, the author was gone hiatus, until we finally found him and chained to the pc table to spew out 10.000 renders in a few days like a printer.
too lazy to check developer news using a link from the first post, are you?

Yeah thats how i see it too. And considering the MC and the main LI's (probably) all get very powerful over times, age is kinda meaningless if they can become 400+ years old.

Even the old LI's like Elina dont look or behave old so i dont really see a problem if yua for example has not changed her bevavior and character at all during the 10 years. Hell i dont think i changed that much between 25 and 35 myself lol

For some paths like Selena it even seems mandatory for the MC to get stronger to continue their relationship as otherwise someone of her family would just kill him lol. The MC needs a lot of power ups and i think its fine to do it this way, i prefer him training/doing whatever for 10 years to increase his power over another more "random/lucky/destined" powerup at this point as we had quite a few of them already (Cassian, the sword, his red eye form).

To clarify, abstaining is required for neophytes due being a distraction from the dao enlightenment; also it can lead to heart demon streghtening.
But later on, dual cultivation - a unity of energy, soul and body - becomes an important concept. Though a daoist can have multiple partners, he cannot just do it with anyone - partner need to have compatible realm and body type and intimacy. Else it will be useless at best and harmful at worst.

To answer people's questions about the update, it was answered by the dev. Sorry, I don't have the screenshot, my subscription ended a few days ago and I no longer have access to the channel. But basically he said this:

The 10-year timeskip: He doesn't see it as a problem when some people can live for thousands of years. The ending with Yua was just a preview of the next update, but he confirmed that the story will return before the 10 years, so we'll see what happens with the MC before then. And maybe what happens to the girls and the world too?

Dusk made the goddess/Layla parallel, saying he was surprised no one noticed they both looked alike. And Layla was created by the goddess. I think even if it's not Layla, there's a good chance it's close.

And uh I think that was it, I haven't read the last two pages of comments but if you have any questions I can maybe help from what I saw in the channel!
I am pretty sure the goddess/layla parallel was straight up mentioned in dialogue with the goddess. Like I know that's a trope for ppl that are use to this but still sucks that the layla we get to know (currently) is killed off. Even if the goddess now merges with her, it won't be layla you know?

And as for the time skip, yeah people can live for thousands of years but when (lets sayYua) has been around for 3 decades, that 10 years is going to matter. Most of the LI's were the same age as MC, we aren't talking about ppl that were 100 years old (most of them) but ones that were in their vital formative years. So it seems unlikely the MC would come back to ppl that didn't grow apart, ppl that moved on and changed completely from what they were. (I am rounding up and down btw) The LI's MC met in the last 3 chapters are all going to most likely be vastly different. You discover who you really are in your 20s, to act like missing out on that doesn't matter because they will live for thousands of years is kind of odd lol Mc is a blip on their radar.

In fact, I think someone showing up for a few months and then disapearing for 10 years, which is all we currently know, would mean less to yanyan elina, astrid, and Vanny. They won't have changed much though but going from 18-21 to 28-31 for the other girls? Like it's hard to believe most of them would even think much of MC considering his time with them, or that their lives wouldn't have changed drastically... Excluding Selena who is now 40.

We were 3 chapter in, we were just getting to know the LI's and the world, now we get hit with a pretty big time jump relative to their age and the time we spent in world. Again, for someone going from 18 to 28, that's a long time. I mean how many ppl remember a person they met a few times when they were 18, Mc didn't even finish a school year with them.

I think my biggest issue is that the time jump happened too soon, hard to see the MC having that much of an impact on most of their lives. I get Yua and layla/sword goddess, but others barely knew him.

I am not arguing with you, just kind of responding to his points that you listed. That and I am not even saying doing the thing is bad, I am just typing out more of why I might have concerns over it, and why others might feel the same. I am just discussing it. I am curious to see where the dev goes with it and will play the next update either way. I still enjoyed the update, just discussing its direction. I don't want people thinking I hate it. I just finished it and am only here to discuss it lol

I am also here to repeat myself

I think exactly the same thing as you and that's what I told the dev after finishing the update. That 10 years in a life is still huge and that it seemed complicated to me to go back to how it was before. Except for Yua who still loves him, and probably Vannyr and the goddess because I think their bond still exists and they must know he's alive or something. And what I wrote in my previous comment is what Dusk replied to me when I said that.
But at the same time I want to trust him and hope that after 3 such epic chapters, he will be able to give us a 4th one just as good. So yeah, we just have to wait

On that I totally agree. I have hang ups with it but no reason not to trust the dev. Like I know this stuff is probably the norm for anime ( or whatever the medium ) but I have only seen cowboy bebop, edgerunners, and some of Inuyasha so I am but an innocent boy when it comes to this stuff lol.

I am looking forward to the next chapter and seeing where the story takes us though

i know this is not going to happen, but the time skip would be the perfect ground to turn the mc into a "villain".

Yeah it will probably be the opposite. In 10 years, he will have worked on the ability to control this darkness in him and tried to reconnect with the real world or at least the goddess

It's maybe me but this reminds me of Dune for some reason.
