Not to beat a dead horse, but it would be nice to get some feedback on if you ever intend to do a mac version.

Update – W1-Saturday-Full_day is live!

Hi everyone,
As promised, the latest version of Crossing the Lines is now available for Unchained tier+, bringing you all the way to the end of Saturday — version W1-Saturday-Full_day.

This is a key day in the narrative, where your choices will truly start to define Emily’s path.
Will you prioritize Isabelle, trying to help her face the weight she’s been carrying alone?
Will you dig into Faith’s secret, and what it might cost her — or you?

Or will you follow Connor and get involved in his increasingly shady business?

️ New features in this update:
  • Revamped phone system:
    • Track Emily’s stats, as before
    • A new Contact list with bios and relationship levels for each character
    • A "Path" tab that tracks your key choices throughout the game — a handy way to refresh your memory if you’re returning to a save after some time

  • Scene Gallery (finally!):
    • You can now replay any scene you’ve already unlocked via the main menu
    • Scenes you haven’t experienced yet will remain locked, encouraging exploration and replayability

  • A new HUD element:
    • You can now see your current money at the top right of the screen, so you don’t have to open the phone every time. Simple, but way more comfortable.
This is only the beginning — more improvements are planned for all these tools.

Some variables and systems are still hidden, but you’ll start to get a better sense of the scale and depth I’m building into the game.

Release schedule
  • Available now for Unchained tier and above :
  • Available Monday, June 23 for Boundless tier
  • Available Monday, June 30 for Lured tier
Thank you all for your amazing support — and as always, I’d love to hear what you think.

Join us on share your thoughts, theories, questions or feedback.

And of course, if you encounter any bugs, please let me know so I can fix them quickly.

See you in game!

The update has just been released for the last tier of patreon.
I'll post it here in a few days.
Thx so much for keeping the flow going. Will saves keep working or do you still plan changes under the hood that might require a restart.

Not complaining, just asking :)

The saves will work, but the gallery will not be unlocked for anything that happened before this release.
For some scenes, I had variables that allowed me to track them, but for others I didn't, so I did the best I could.
As for the narration, there will be no problem continuing your saves. It only affects the gallery.

If you do want to make changes to variables, variable names, or back-end tweaks, RenPy has already thought of exactly that. I'd suggest taking a quick glance at the below thread. Using 'after_load' is a fantastic reserved label, that was designed to adapt changes to a game as it's being developed: https://f95zone.to/threads/how-to-variables-and-save-compatibility.16011/. This post has an incredible tutorial for a case that might work for you, and lots of follow-on posts about it and other scenarios that may work.

The above could also pertain to gallery changes, depending on what you changed.

With the number of different LI paths, job combinations, school effort (good, average, bad student), forced restarts definitely make things tougher as that's a lot of things to redo. Using the above, will initially be a little bit of work to set up and fit into the game, but I think it will end up making your, and the player's lives, a LOT easier in the long run. Especially when it comes to people asking you why their saves don't work or they submitting bugs for you to chase down, because a lot of people don't often read the OP.

Keep up the good work!

Brb, inventing a versioning system that no-one else uses.
Unironically, for a porn VN this one is probably more useful than "0.3.21" or whatever crap you usually get. Since at least you know at a glance how much of in-game time is covered/added.

I disagree since I have no idea how much content is involved in 'week' vs 'day' etc. Versioning that has major/minor/bugfix (i.e. 0.7.12.5 - initial number being if it's released or not (not required, but helpful sometimes), second number being major content, third being minor content and fourth being bugfix releases) is my preference.

It's entirely possible that there's a better way to version the versions ^^

I'm doing this in my spare time and I don't have any experience in this kind of thing.
But I'm open to suggestions for improvement.

My first post was glib, but honestly, I really do prefer major.minor.bugfix versioning systems.

And you have similarly no idea how much content is involved in a change of a single number, because each porn game dev does it differently. "0.2" to "0.3" can mean literally anything, from a single scene with a few pictures to gigabytes and days of in-game plot.

To an extent. It has a relative scale however - once you've seen a couple of major or minor releases you're going to have an idea of how much content is in them. In the case of week/day though I have no idea how to estimate how much content is going to be in them - especially when some days are going to be biased towards having more content (weekends, I would assume for instance).

Anyway, I wasn't trying to start an argument. Like I said, I was being glib and for that I apologise, I just get a little annoyed with the lack of any coherent versioning system on the site.

I do agree to a point. That said, by the time we reach day 6, we should be able to have a rough idea of the content likely to be included in one day.

Perhaps a compromise for anyone to comment on? Instead of the usual 'major.minor.patch' or 'major.minor.bugfix' formatting, perhaps 'Week.Day.bugfix' could work? So for the current release could go with "1.6.0" or "w1.d6.0" -- because it's Week 1, Day 6, Release 0 or the first release. If a bugfix patch is released, then it'd be "1.6.1" or "w1.d6.1" as it now has one patch. Thoughts? When Week 2, Day 1, releases, it'd be "2.1.0" or "w1.d1.0"

It's by no means perfect, either allows for a quick understanding of what's new/updated. Thoughts? :coffee::unsure:
