Personally I wouldn't want to mix VN and RPGM formats if I were developing a game. RPGM is already very one-hand friendly.
i see a 0.1.7 is available for paid patrons. what is the changelog for it? wont ask for a download right now since you only just gave it to your paid patrons (2 days ago) but id like to see the changelog at least

After hacking through owners laptop and seeing bunch of evidence in the drawer, Serena model disappeared. She still is in the party and interacts with guests, but doesn't follow MC.
No one else at the party want's to talk about ballad, and seemingly I cannot progress.
Serena talked about re-checking bedroom, but no interactive elicit any new reaction.

It's a bug from 0.1.6 version. Technically 0.1.7.2 fixed this but this part of the story is kinda cursed and had new bugs

Better is very subjective feeling.
Current version is definitely less polished than what was available in RenPy. RPGM provides greater freedom for player, but also is more bug prone and grind friendly.
It's somewhat possible to not be "just" submissive cuck. By keeping corruption stat low enough, most interactions feel more like sharing/teasing than full on submissiveness. Also, MC can engage in sexual interactions with other females (as a sub, but still...).
