We put a lot of effort to give characters speak animation, handjob/blowjob/sex animations on the glory hole section, remaking the map with 1:1 colors and atmosphere. Literally the only thing that's different is some unnecessary character story animation.
I tried to play, but RPGM is just not for me, sorry
But do not listen to my ramblings, I just got a bit conflicted because I hate RPGM and liked your game so much, that I got emotional about the rare engine switch
What exactly is the "abomination"? I really want to know.
I think it's just my personal problem with the engine, based on the amount of games made with it -- it must be popular
It just feels so outdated and clunky as if you are playing some 20 years old JRPG on some ancient game console (and I hate JRPG)
I never developed anything with RPGM, but I have a couple of years of outdated professional experience with Unity, some with Godot and a little bit with RenPy, and always wondered why would anyone use RPGM if there are such nice engines available out there
Well, probably, because it's simpler to use?
For Godot, the problem is the exact same of renpy: I don't know the language, I can't afford a programmer for this, I don't want A NEW programmer to ghost me halfway the game, so this is the only way to have 100% the game completed, because *I* don't drop my own games
It's hard to tell for sure, but I think you're overestimating how hard it is to use RenPy and learn basic Python to develop a VN
If you are capable of developing a complex game with RPGM — it would be possible to do the same with RenPy, it basically made to be simple to use
You could get comfortable with RenPy's Python in a few weeks for a VN-style game — though complex RPG mechanics might take longer. But for narrative-focused projects? It’s very accessible
I'm sorry to hear that your programmer abandoned you, and applaud to your dedication
Mine was enough only to produce a couple of tech demos at the moment
