Question, for the Self-Destructive stance, does it work when the stamina cost is boosted through things like the fancy clothes, or does it just look at original stamina costs?

Also, in general, is there a sort of understanding of what milestones I should have accomplished by what loop? Like, rescuing Tanaka feels end-ish game something around loop 30, but would discovering her location with Jackal be like loop 10?
It probably does, but I think right now there are no actions that would be pushed by clothes to the Self-destructive cost range.

I don't think it matters much, but I believe did both under loop 10 (unless by rescuing Tanaka you mean stopping kidnapping, in which case 30 loops wouldn't be nearly enough). It would definitely be more comfortable to do after farming some MOL anyway

Hm, what would be the best way to farm MoL? So far I've been just trying to hit the ones you can get by achieving something (getting lvl1 with Tanaka, getting to the country club, etc) plus the ones that come naturally with that like relationship and attribute values, but not sure if that's the best way to go about it.

Well alright, weird thing happened. After closing the game, I come back and run it like usual (double-click the app) but nothing happens, not even an error message popping up. I started looking stuff up, tried to run it in the cmd prompt with
"java -jar "Cultivation Spiral.jar" " and I get this:

Any ideas?

If I'm remembering correctly there's at least 1 - language courses downtown (from the country club job offer) get pushed into the correct range through clothing, which can let you knock out learning the language in a single action.

Yep, and Jackal has a sort of incredulous reaction if you already know the language before discovering the kidnap location.
I like how in this game characters start taking notice when you're better at things than you should be.

The solution is to rename your current save to like currentsave1.sav, and it should open. Then, manually load the save when it re-opens. One of the causes of that bug is selecting weekly default action and closing. The dev says they'll fix it next round.

If it doesn't work, try renaming the saves folder to saves1, start the game, and change it back.

It's actually the more early-game method to study it in your room. But, if you've got the kind of high focus that having high academics brings, you can larceny kit/generous the country club for two tiers, which unlocks the highest level food and then the language course.

The country club also has a third tier that unlocks an efficient money generating action in Metropolis. The country club doesn't have high enough stamina for Self Destructive stance to trigger, and has high enough goal requirements that high focus is mandatory to get anywhere.

Self-destructive is based on actual stamina used. There ARE some actions that are below 40 stamina, and allow SD triggering if used with Eye-Catching Attire or Ostentatious Clothing. Conversely, handheld games actually reduce some actions below the 40 stamina threshold, so they tend not to synergize.

Also, if you don't have a full amount of stamina for an action, but have at least 40, SD will trigger. There can be times, like with Heilig's endurance training, when it's better to do it at 1/3 power and trigger SD for a bonus 100 stamina of effect than to sleep.

How do you get access to this "job offer"? I figured it would come after I got access through DuMont and then hung around a bunch to gain membership, but that just gave me a placeholder text.

Dumont Access>Country Club Lvl 3. First tier, is independent access, which gives the best food option, Classy Restaurant, and access to powerful 80% stamina recovery options (you attend the spa, costs Finance points). Second tier opens the language class for vastly accelerated language learning that you can likely finish in a day. Third tier is job offer, and opens a flight to Metropolis, even without knowing where Tanaka is, and has powerful money making and charisma boosting options in Metropolis.

*Finally manages to study the language and board the plane right around day 98-99*

Well, I'm going to die by alien attack, but maybe I can at least see what to expect.

*Actually makes it past day 100*

...In retrospect, I should have realized the attack was just on the city

You know what'd be an amazing QoL feature? A default action setting, only selectable on day 1, that sets your upgrades and your default actions for the loop to those of the loop where you generated your most ever MoL. Ideally wouldn't be too taxing to implement since it seems like a ton of profile-level data is already being tracked - just record the loop actions and loop MoL. If the new MoL is greater, save the actions somewhere, discarding the old set. Would be really nice for when you invest some MoL, try out a strategy with your improved stats, and find that you're coming up short of where you were before, probably because your Vulnerable and Self-Destructive windows have changed. My personal best is 30 MoL higher than my current setup, and I'm not sure how to get back to that level without reloading that save, meticulously noting down every action, and trying to manually replicate on my current save.

New update on roughly the 15th of each month. Release 2, which includes the next big wave of content past day 150 is 2-3 updates away on Patreon, and 3-4 updates away on public.

There is more College Town content you can experience, and the content right now is basically maximizing your MoL per run. If it's not blowing your skirt up, I'd suggest setting a calendar alarm and return in three months.

It's tough, because changes in MOL perk selection can break action chains. For this reason, I usually note my current MOL gain per run prior to doing a big change. I've absolutely scrapped whole 150 day runs because I was getting significantly worse results than before lol.
