You need repack. This way more easy then you fully install all with your skill (reason for any mods or dlc or update may break game) ... search for repacks. One is for Steam (English) version and one for Japan version with translate. Japan have more mods / dlc and other. English less then japan but... The first thing you can do is wait. If the game loads from a crappy old hdd it might take a while. Otherwise it should fully load within 2 minutes or so from sata ssd or a few seconds from nvme.
If it didn't throw any popup error messages up until that point it might just work.

the game could at least fix the base game files required for the game to boot if a file is corrupted due to a failing storage drive.Other than that the issue is usually related to insufficient permissions and having the game folder read only.
If you install updates or dlc incorrectly it will also wreck the whole install beyond repair. Never extract updates/dlc packages in the game folder.

Ok, I have no idea what the issue is now, cos I still can't reply to you. I've opened a support ticket, not sure I can do much else until it's resolved. In the hopes of preventing anyone else from doubling up on purchased DLC in the mean time, I've got the Majime date, Extra mode additional pack, and Maid cafe season 2 dlcs.

I initiated the conversation months ago and have been chatting even last month. And all of a sudden they can't reply in the same conversation because of some arbitrary min 10 posts requirement? I call bullshit
It might be a recent change, cos I couldn't even view the existing conversation a few days ago when I had less than 3 posts. So while bizzare, it does fit with my expierence. I'll drop the URL in a seperate post so I can delete it easily.
Maybe the script that enforces it is a little buggy. I've also seen instances of people being able to post links in forums without the 3 conversation minimum reached.
Private mode contains dark events that are disabled with the message to complete "Contract" first.
