What is the difference between the 4GB+ version and the 2GB+ on the pixeldrain links?
Applied the 2.20a patch then the translation patch on the 2GB+ version when changing the girls to Calm and Collected personality it crashed.

Its not donations its by doing request, I figured it out anyway.

I'm getting the exact same error as soon as I add torcher's dialogue translation patch. It seems to occur right after you create your first girl and go through the first bit of dialogue in the dungeon; specifically when the training menu is supposed to show up. Game runs fine without torcher's patch, but none of the dialogue is translated so it's hard to understand anything.
If anyone finds a fix for this It'd be much appreciated.

did you apply the first English patch first? also are you playing with plus mode on or off?

I feel like I tried just about everything:
1. I first tried just adding torcher's patch to the pre-patched download, from the 1st page of this post, and overwriting the files.
2. I also tried deleting the pre-patched 'patch' folder and add.xp3 file, downloading the 2.02a patch, from the 1st page of this post, and putting those in the game folder, and finally adding torcher's patch and overwriting the files.
I also made sure my folder's name was using latin characters, my locale was set to japanese and I tried putting the game folder in C:\Games\ to ensure the path wasn't too long like some people mentioned.
Also, I tried playing with the plus mode enabled, even though I'm not entirely sure what it does. I didn't try playing without it.
If you have any other ideas, I'm all ears

are you able to play the game with only the 2.02a patch installed which is with the ui translated? if so maybe try only copypasting over the dialogue files from the torcher translation over, so only the files with the .ks extension into the patch folder.I feel like I tried just about everything:

So I seem to have managed to fix the issue after reading this.
I tried running the game with just the 2.02a patch and I had the same error show up, which made me think it wasn't torcher's patch causing the issue after all. Instead, I tried downloading a fresh install of the game again, but this time I used the MEGA link instead of the pixeldrain one.
The file from MEGA seems to be completely unpatched, unlike the one from pixeldrain, so I repeated the procedure of adding the 2.02a patch and torcher's patch to the fresh install and everything seems to be working fine so far; I didn't run into the usual error.
I'm not sure if there is something weird with the pixeldrain file, but if anyone else is running into the same error, I recommend trying to patch the MEGA download instead.
