It really is a shame. I am NOT a fan of AI art of any kind. It removes the personal touch of the artist or developer. I don't think you can replace anything done with the human as opposed to AI. I guess I understand why he chose to go with the AI art in that it would have saved him time, the reality is did not. For every image you need to go through the laborious exposition of what the image needs to contain, then queue sometimes hundreds of pictures. Now imagine doing that from in-game image to the next. Suddenly what may have seemed a quick solution was in fact the opposite.
It would have taken longer just to do that..then consider a complete remake (because it's not a remaster)you can keep the same story, dialogue etc, but when your changing from a fundamental difference in the art direction that your using completely different assets, art etc
