Is the game a playable experience now ?
Back when I tried it most of the content was only accessible through scene viewer because the game progression itself was very slow and unbalanced

The game progression was never slow, it was always in a balance-paced stage. If it's too slow for you then that means you were too horny to play the game and have fun with the story
Ps.the only quest that I think was too long was mabel's "stealing answer" story. that one took me weeks (in game) to complete

This game has weird progression and no step by step guide has been made yet. Most scenes are connected to the scenes of other characters and those scenes can be connected to other scenes as well. Most important is to not skip dialog and to save often.

2 ways to tackle this, you either play through the game normally and slowly grind out points across many hours of interacting with different characters at specific in-game times/days OR you can use the phone to cheat with infinite money, teleports, time changing, and character progress points.

The quickest way to get everything unlocked is to get a notepad and go through each character's scenes while writing down requirements and then use the phone to cheat in enough points for each new progress step then play through that step and keep going until you unlock all the scenes.

When you get stuck on a scene or character, use the search feature in the top right of this forum thread to find answers.

This game is not designed or supported for android use yet(maybe in the future).
Trying to play this game on android would be difficult even if all the options worked as you need to navigate menus all the time.
There may be a way to transfer saves(try search function in this thread) but it would not be worth the effort as you can get all the scenes from scratch in 5-10 hours of playing if you use cheats even as a new player.

I guess I am wrong then, would love to hear how to open the phone menu on android as that seems to be a common problem.

Playing on joiplay is the problem since its not entirely supported. Opening the phone and night crawling will lock the game.

On the otherside, the unofficial Android port has its problems but I believe that touch screen works on that. At least for me, it crashes when you try to dream but otherwise works and doesn't lock up.

you can solve this by using real mouse connected to ur phone or find a mouse emulator

Refile the apk to zip then add your save to the zip lastly refile it again to apk. Haven't tried it but since I accidentally refiled the apk to zip so I think its possible.
