Can't be arsed anymore to check how long ago the last 2 updates were (the previous update didn't add anything new already)
But after not one, but two completely unecessary spin-offs nobody asked for, and no lifesigns of the actual DBA game, it finally seems like this is another "Dr. Bones".
Hard to understand why; the game was on a really good way, so much more potential content on the horizon. Then the talk about a steam release, putting good gameplay over porn. Now it hasn't progressed for several years.
Sure there is plenty of content and gameplay in the current live version, but don't expect this to be going anywhere soon.
I'm not going to try and defend the devs, because I agree that criticism is warranted. However, I do know at least one reason why it's taken so long.
The devs are building this game with their own in-house engine, not using Ren'Py, RPG Maker, or anything like that. After they released the 0.6.5 version, they started heavily upgrading the engine itself, and how it rendered the graphics (i.e. they had 2D sprites that only gave the appearance of 3D objects, now they are creating actual 3D assets). That update is taking a long time, and while they're doing that, they're simultaneously updating the game to release the 0.7 version on Steam as an early access title. At least, that's the plan.
I'm not a game developer, nor a DBA Patreon supporter, nor am I trying to justify their delays, but just trying to give a little context. If I had to guess how long it would take for them to get to the 1.0 release, I wouldn't guess any sooner than 2027. I hope I'm wrong, but I try to be realistic. We'll probably get this before Summertime Saga is completed, though
