Dark Magic is one of the best harem games in the scene. Hell I can say it's one of the best adult games in the scene. From writing to character designs and animation. Comedy in the game is really good and made me laugh many times. It's a 'happy game' in general and a harem game to the bones. If it's not your thing sure but I can recommend this game to everyone who likes harem 100%

It's showing its age. I appreciated the game for its time but modern graphics and sandbox mechanics have left this game in the dust. If I didn't have emotional investment due to following the updates for so long, I would absolutely not play this game at all. The animations are the exact ones you've seen in every other honey-select game. The sandbox is annoying to navigate even with the notepad guiding you combined with a lot of grind. I don't recommend this to new players even if they like harems, unless they have no experience with honey-select games.
The problem with this game is that F.Lord already needs a lot of time to come up with new updates. They're usually quite good and have a lot of content, especially the major ones.
But now he's also trying to develop a new game. And this will not go well for both games. We're already patiently waiting for two to three major updates per year for this game where he continues the main story as of now. Other games come up with frequent half a month to monthly updates that are quite similar when it comes to the amount of content.
I really like this game a lot even though it's technology is getting old. The story is very intriguing and also quite mystic. But just one major update per year if we are lucky simply won't do it.
And honestly, if he rushes this game or abandons it I will lose any interest in his new game. Because then the risk is too high that he will also rush or abandon the new one once he gets tired of it two to three years later. And my time is too precious for that experience.

Yup, sandbox games suck, but they suck less the better their sandbox navigation is. Games like this one, which require you to grind and constantly click through menus and search for content, are not one of those.

The game literally has minimal amount of grinding what are you talking about? It's not grindy at all. The only thing you have to grind a little is gold and you can solve it in 5 second with renpy save editor. Some of the best and extremely popular harem games are all sandbox. Harem Hotel, Corrupted Kingdoms, Myhtical Manor, What A Legend, Love of Magic, A House in the Rift, Treasure of Nadia, Sexnote, The Headmaster, Corruption, Taffy Tales, Champions of Realms, MIST ...etc. When it's done right, sandbox games are the best. Personally I like better than one and done vn games. Repeatable content and the world keeps the game alive for me while waiting for update. I occasionaly launch the game to fuck around while waiting for update. But when it's one and done games, I only play the game when there is new update. After that the game is dead. For example I can launch harem hotel to fuck around with my harem girls time to time wile I wait many months for new update on games like WVM. Just because you hate sandbox, not everybody needs to hate it. In fact they are extremely popular

The game has one of the best writings in the scene. Both sex dialogues and story dialogues. Comedy is literally gold when you compare to other adult games. Characters are hots as hell (esspecialy mom) and the sex scenes are really good. The facial expressions are also very well done.
Honestly If you hate sandbox games that much don't play it. It's that simple really. For example I don't like games with female protagonists at all. But you won't see me complain about games with female protagonists under that game's thread. I just ignore them

I tend to like sandboxes more than VNs. I guess everyone has their own tastes.
I'm absolutely the same. A hallway VN needs to be really excellent for me to enjoy it. A good sandbox is always the best, and even a mediocre sandbox is a lot better to me. Being able to pick and choose where I go and what order I do things is a big benefit. And its a lot sexier when I feel like I've unlocked something with one of the girls, rather than just having it happen during the flow of a VN.

I humbly submit that any game whose grind is bad enough that you are even tempted to use a save editor is way too grindy.

You don't really need to very much, but the MC tends to focus on the few girls in town he really shouldn't be fucking-- sister, aunt, mom, the royal princess, etc.
In overwhelming majority of the girls mc has relations with, MC didn't use any magic at all. The main point of using magic was because he wanted to have sex with his mom and sister. Yeah magic was kinda needed to start having sex with them but after everything happens it became natural for them as well. Both fell in love with mc. Also the other 2 girls mc used magic with was already in love with him but mc wasn't really clever enough to see it. Later in the game MC doesn't really use magic that much. Also the magic is kinda surface the emotions and desires they already have but they hide it in them. It doesn't create emotions out of blue
