I started playing the new release about 24 hrs ago, but I quickly reached the point where
Oliver drugs her drink and stopped.
I wasn't sure why, but something about that just felt wrong.
Not to me or my morals, per se. It's a dark game with corruption and all sorts of bad things will happen. It's honestly kinda tame. So why did it bug my subconscious enough to pause playing?
It took me a day to realize that it just felt wrong... for
Oliver's character.
That said, I've gone back to the early game and nothing in those scenes run counter to his behavior here... he even outright says that he'll use every possible method - Good or Bad - to achieve his goal.
I have to admit, maybe it is me. I might have incorrectly judged
Oliver's character.
I'll keep playing, of course, but I'm feeling a bit like a bad GPS right now:
***RE-CALIBRATING... RE-CALIBRATING... RE-CALIBRATING***
Unrelated: I can't remember, do we actually know what happened when
Oliver pulled out finger guns and dude got shot?
ETA. Shortly after I got to a menu choice where one of the options was greyed out an unavailable... will wait until the next release.
(damn shame. I was really enjoying this game. Crossing fingers, hoping, and
not changing my donation in the meantime.)
