I think it's more of an exposure thing that separates differences with online experiences. For instance I don't have a big presence online and only play a couple of MMO's so don't interact with many people on a daily basis. Those I do interact with are all pretty decent.
considering we're on a website full of perverts I seem to get along with the majority of blokes on here. Those i've had issues with haven't been down to my gender or sexual orientation, just a difference of opinion on one game or another and how i'm always right ... no exceptions. That being said i'm well aware how other women have problems online, i'm not ignorant to that I just have a different experience so I can't judge all men and go on a rant about how they treat women when I have no first hand experience of that.
I mean, sure, I have had dick pics sent to me but after telling them i'd love to lick their clitoris they either get pissed off and never speak to me again or we have a bit of banter and end up friendly. You put yourself out there with your games and when you interact with fans you share a part of your life, it comes with the territory, the big problem there is those that support you financially often feel you obligated to your time.
I'm not a dev so I can't comment first hand but I assume having a fan base means interacting with lots of people on a regular basis and with that more chances to meet morons.
I don't know you personally so I won't insult you by presuming to give advice you probably don't need especially when it comes to interacting with others i'm just making a general point to any woman here that sure there are dickheads but most blokes are decent even if they are perverts. Thanks, Avaron. My negative experiences predate my becoming an erotic games developer. Strangely, things have actually been better since then, though that's probably because the negativity is now generally directed at my work rather than my gender.
But, like Won in the story, there are a lot of places online where I've had to pretend to be a male to avoid the mess. It's a weird world we live in where that one line in the game, which is based on real experiences, brands me a "feminist" and ruins the potential of the story. This game's season is 5 episodes long, and I'm releasing the finished version on January 15th. At the same time, I'll release the text-only novella I wrote that goes along with the game (it's called "AAA"). You don't need to read the novella to play the game, but it gives a lot of information on a new group of characters in the Elsa-verse.
