I like both versions, but must say I prefer the first. Which way the hair should go on the girl in green is debatable. If she got hit hard enough that her head was whipped to the side, then her hair would be trailing the motion of the head (and thus not flowing away from the pillow, but towards it, which seems to be part of the reason the second version was made). It isn't all that hard though for a person to take a hit from a pillow and not move a whole lot. The girl in green seems to be pretty well balanced and vertical. She looks like she took enough of a hit to be surprised and maybe annoyed, but it doesn't really look like she was moved by the blow. It's quite possible the ponytail took enough of a hit from the pillow to cause it to shoot out away from the blow while the girl mostly held her ground.
Without the hair flying out the whole image feels a little too static and stationary for such a confrontational attack scene. I like them regardless, the flying hair just sells it better for me than a small wad of spit as the action element in the scene. The facial expressions are nice in both. Or you could have her losing balance/not so vertical so it feels more actiony.
Now, if you shortened up the pillow/changed the attack angle such that the pillow was hitting her from the side but only catching the front part of her face instead of more wrapping around the back, then you could have it all. Meaning the pillow hit lands more like a person receiving a slap to the face. So her head snaps to the side, which is more likely to cause the spit anyway. Plus it causes the back of the head to snap towards the side the pillow is coming from, which means that the ponytail would be trailing the back of the head motion, which puts it back the way you had it originally.

Nice, but you should take it one step further. The butterflies on the sleeve don't really fit the theme. Feel like the sleeves should either just be the netting or also fit the gambling theme. Just hearts, a repeat of the suit shapes, the faces of dice, A through 10, one word written down each sleeve - RED and QUEEN, or something else.
Edit: okay, never mind. I see the butterflies were removed in a later version.
Thanks for the feedback redle. Many of the renders I have been doing are to expand my knowledge in using Daz.
The pillow fight was my first experiments into using D-formers, where I wanted the pillow wrap around the character. There could have been some improvements in posing, however you kinda have to get it right from the start as reposing characters and d-formers is quite time consuming.
For the exercises on the dresses, there are a multitude of options that could be run. The customised ones however require the creation of a texture in a separate image editor. This is often more time consuming than the actual Daz work. I have redone a quick render with the sleeves replaced with the same pattern as the cut-outs. Whilst I was at it, I thought I would change the skin and hair colour as well.
If you are interested in creating you own models, downloading Daz is free and there are a number of assets on this site that can get you started.

Damn this Daz. I am addicted to using it. Now I am getting what writers call plot bunnies because I can use these models in my books/ comics. Thanks for all the tips on using SB8 and D force/D Form You are all helping a fellow content creator learn and experiment. So from the bottom of my heart thank you all for the advice and support. Now to show off a werewolf bitch in my series Just a test render I need to do some more detailing like adding muscles and her fangs. Maybe later I will post a final of her.
