That’s a hard question to answer. I’ve done this for 3 years as a hobby making about 130 renders of varying quality most of them released here or on Slushe. I started with no experience what so ever in lighting, composition or daz3d and similar programs. If you have a background in photography or 3D you’ll most likely be able to shave of some time or you could one of the lucky ones and be natural. Largely it depends on how much time your willing to devote to learning it. I’ve seen artist that started after me that’s already way better then me.
