The first two are edited with Photoshop; the last one is the original.
The original looks more dramatic. Like "Hoy shit, I hope she'll at least let me see her boobies before she cuts me."
The top one though, looks epic. Like "I am about to get some, then die. Happy."

Yeah, its even worse if you zoom in. Here's some advice.. you can change the outline color... so I usually change it to a darker color of whatever it's outlining... red hair? make the outlines dark red.. looks much better in the long run in my opinion.

If I could learn how to do that, that's kind of the style I would like to make a game around (presuming of course I can fin the assets for the characters and setting I want as well.)
Nothing special, just 2 emissive planes. I do a little bit of color correction in Lightroom and PS, but its very minor. Glad you like it!
