I think I've encountered a bug with the game. I'm still in the early stages of the game. I go to talk to Laura on High Street for the first time and talk to here about the transgender issue. No matter what option I pick (I chose the 1st option originally "Yes, I understand now, it's actually really simple.") I get the same result when waking up in the morning. "Looks like I won't be hearing from Laura again."
Is there a way I can fix this so I can continue the game with Laura a part of the game?
Edit: Apparently it's just a text bug. I can still visit Laura and do work for her. Had me a bit worried for a bit since I'm liking how the game is playing so far.
I, too, encountered this issue- I thought it had something to do with not triggering the event properly. The MC says that the Mom said you should talk to Laura, but this conversation never occurred. I (the MC) spoke to the Mom about Laura and said I had no problems with her- y'know, the "whatever choice makes her happy" one and the Mom even said it was a mature/grown-up response. Was I supposed to answer that question differently to trigger the above event?
I went and spoke to Laura (anyway) and just as the poster I'm quoting stated, they had this issue, but it was a text bug. I chose the "I'm okay with everything" response and tried the "I'm not okay, I'm uncomfortable" and then "Yes" (the I could still be her friend or something or other). IF I choose either of these- then I should still be able to visit/interact with Laura, bypassing the text bug, correct? Trying both of these methods resulted in the "looks like I won't be hearing from Laura again...".
I really don't want to shut her out of the game- I would feel bad as a person (IRL) and as the MC, considering she went out of her way to help you when she really didn't have to- she saved your life, your family's lives, found you a place to stay, found your Mom a job, and has just been a decent human being. How/why could anyone make any choices that would/could remove her from the story? It would just be disgraceful and disrespectful to do to someone who has done so much for you and asked nothing in return.
I understand that they're in dire straits, but after Sarah is in an almost persistent, vegetative state for almost two weeks...
maybe they could've gotten to the ER a bit sooner than that?
Admittedly, the whole transgender thing isn't my particular bag- I have no problem/prejudice with anyone who wants to live as they so choose, but that really isn't the central focus of this game (for those that may be wondering).
This looks to be a very promising deep, emotional, personal, thoughtful story- if you feel nothing during the intro, as the plot and characters are introduced; the screen gradually fades to grey as each tragedy/misfortune after another befalls them, while a haunting piano melody plays in the background accompanying it- then you are inhuman. I know I, um "had something in my eye" watching it.
I look forward to future updates and wish the Dev nothing but the best.
