This is in response to what EmDotRand has said but they don't care about this fetish so I'm not gonna tag them like a maniac, but I will tag the person who was asking about the pregnancy.


It's honestly one of the better preg systems out there. There is still a lot of work to do, but its miles ahead a lot of games that are supposedly themed around it (fucking hazumi garbage ass game). For one there are reactions to the PC getting preggies, there are consequences AFTER pregnancy not just during it. Someone can refuse to use a condom and fail to cum outside or just not care (you'd be surprised by how rare this feature is in porn games and how rarely it actually even works). Bunch of comments and flavor surrounding it is a big draw. Oh and male characters can get pregnant as well if they do certain things in game to unlock it if that's your thing. There are already plenty of custom events in regards to pregnancy, either pre or post or during, from generic npcs its mostly comments or reacting to pregnancy fame but named npcs get very specific events, with more to come.

The real mvp is X-Change mod with genderswap pills that make this into a dangerous mini game, either prolonging the pills or making them permanent depending on your settings. Some named npcs get pill events. Btw X-Change mod is based of DoL plus mod not vanilla so it has all the extra goodies that entail that. It's on modding discord under smaller mods, but it has a decent amount of content with the pills.

Problem with a lot of sandobox games is they either make pregnancy super shallow (girls life, though to be honest it is in the plans to make it more advanced its just waaaay further on the priorities list, at least 2 years in the future maybe) or take ACTUAL FUCKING 9 in game months with now way to shorten it like About it. Or have no reactions from almost anyone and it feels like only your character noticed they are pregnant if that.

Not sure how it's implemented here since I turned off pregnancy asap, but usually pregnancy as a game mechanic is either purely aesthetic (meh but not horrible), a source of annoying debuffs, a thing that requires annoying micro management, or just a cause of reduced quality of life. Judging by how many other mechaniics are handed, I'm comfortable betting it's the latter two.

Additional consideration is how much development time and effort it sucks up that could've been put elsewhere

Lets be real guys all of the discussions about what should or shouldnt be ingame or what is or isnt a waste of time all boils down to how much you like what is added and nothing more. Its not a waste of time because its not interesting or done well its a waste of time because it doesnt cater to your tastes. Everyone somehow expects the game to be hand tailored specifically for them for some reason. Might as well read every set of patch notes and complain whenever your favorite character gets less scenes added than others. Its all just incoherent whining at the end of the day really.

The most ironic part of the whole thing is that if there is something that these people complain they want added like full on furry mechanics or something like a fully simulated urinary tract they would be celebrating in the streets while telling everyone that complains its a great addition. Just be happy interesting mechanics are being added and the game is still being developed.

To add to this discussion my two cents, I'm not a big fan of pregnancy content in general, but here it is already implemented leagues ahead of most other games with pregnancy content. In v0.5.

And while yes, it means the development time is more spread out between all the various features... it's already in the game, so the choices are either leaving it in a half-finished state, half-asing it, both of which is arguably worse than not making it in the first place, or trying to make it the best pregnancy mechanic they can.

The argument the people are saying isnt that it should be abandoned but that it should have never been implemented in the first place usually for the reasoning that it was a niche set of content that people didnt actually want. Which is pretty silly considering whenever they did a poll about what content people wanted to see it was always at the top of the list. It is just another complaint in the long list of complaints that all boil down to "this isnt my fetish so its bad." Instead of seeing new mechanics and gameplay elements added to toy around with people instead want to complain that it is stealing from the content they like but thats really just not true. All work put into the game improves the game at a basic level which is something that everyone benefits from even if its not directly.

for me a decent pregnancy mechanic is a must-have in any good porn game. Otherwise all the sexual acts feel quite meaningless and the potential mechanic of cum in/out is irrelevant

Kindly specify who did what instead of throwing about these sweeping generalizations. Alternatively explain when any of this happened because as of the last exchange:

• Besides one person who said it could away from other content, nobody said to remove pregnancy outright.
• You assumed a shared motivation (this isn't my fetish, therefore bad) when once again only one person expressed this.
• I exclusively looked at the game mechanics pregnancy introduces and gave a neutral stance on the fetish while you claim the opposite happened.

Besides that, there's fetishes I actually like that still make me groan because of how it was done, (Eg. Bukkake making you slippery in a platformer or forcing you to clean up in order to interact with NPCs in RPGs) and fetishes I hate but give enough utility to justify keeping it on (Eg. Dirt coverage in LonaRPG makes enemies less likely to rape you due to reducing your sexy score at the cost of risking infection if you go too long without bathing.) If the upsides at least compete with the downsides I'd at least concider turning it on. Does being pregnant make sex risky to you you or your potential children? Do we have to deal with cramping, reduced athletic score, or mornign sickness? How's the interactions with your children? Can you take them with you on your escapades? This kind of stuff could be interesting or remain as an extra box to untick when starting a run depending on how it's implimented.

Its just another coping mechanism for why everyone ELSE is wrong and how everything they like or dont like is somehow objectively right even when it makes no sense or has no evidence. Its not about the results of any polls or discussions because thats all fake. Its not about what people are saying because its all lies. Its not about how well received something was they are all lying. Its uncanny how this kind of thinking overlaps quite solidly with certain circles in reality. The kinds of people that unironically argue like this are the kinds of people that probably deny the moon landing or believe in flat earth theory. Its not about having arguments that make sense its about having arguments that they can believe in even if they are batshit insane because it makes them feel good.

Its also really funny how commenting on a general trend that we are seeing play out right now in this thread that has happened multiple times over the last year is somehow a "generalization fallacy." The sky is very pretty in this update, delightful.

Option of sterility through contraceptives abuse for feats-friendly disabling of content could be a solution for those not keen on it.

If you play on DOL+ then yes there is a setting and you can have it scale over time

Oh I dunno anything about parasitic/egg pregnancy sorry, I meant having to pay for the upkeep which is raised even more if you don't show up to take care of them regularly and most of the flavor is mostly with specific love interest pregnancies. If you want egg pregnancy that does that I guess you got a great hawk now, though I don't know how fleshed out their events are.
