So you wish everyone was a helicopter parent? Part of becoming an adolescent is learning how to assert one's independence. There is no healthy way for parents to be 100% aware of what their kids are doing 100% of the time if the kid decides they don't want the parent to know. I don't know about ID checks specifically, but pErSoNaL rEsPoNsIbIlItY is a cop out and always has been. If a site hosts content that shouldn't (or in some cases, legally can't) be accessed by people of all ages, some of the responsibility for ensuring minors are less likely to do so should lie with the content host.
No, all responsibility for that should lie with the parents cause its their kids. As long as they are kids its the parents job to look out for their safety, its got nothing to do with being helicopter parents. That doesnt mean that every move of the kid has to be monitored, but if you as a parent dont want your kids to be browsing sites like this, its your job to restrict your kids access to them, and maybe check their browser history once in a while if you really feel the need to. On the content hosts side, putting up a 'are you over 18 years old' popup doesnt do shit, and asking for ID checks is overreaching, so they dont really have a way to regulate kids on their platforms anyway.

Honestly, I don't really care apart from the fact that kids online act like complete assholes. If they want to look at porn and are enterprising enough to pull it off without getting caught by their parents, well, good for them. It doesn't really hurt them any. I remember stealing my first porno when I was like eight years old.
