I was wondering if, after taking on Robin's debt, if I hide, or get sent to prison or the island, causing me not to pay my debt on time, will Robin get punished for that while I'm gone?
If you're away (e.g. on the island), the payment is simply delayed until you return, no penalty. Same with hiding I think. Robin only gets punished if you return to the orphanage and refuse to pay Bailey. Refusing him at the temple is fine, you only get a hefty hit to grace. Not sure about other locations where Bailey can ask for payment (e.g. Alex's place) and if Robin not being safe factors in this.

Alex's farm is also safe to refuse, since it just makes Bailey support Remy's attacks.
IIRC anything else just counts as being "away", so Bailey will just demand the payments next time you're at one of the three locations (orphanage, church, or Alex's farm)
The only thing that results in Robin being punished is refusing to pay at the orphanage I think. (actually it might just be fighting off Bailey. I'm not sure if accepting the punishment for not paying causes Robin to get punished as well)

I hope that there will be more flavors for same-sex combat. I'm not asking for homophobic slurs of course, but I think there should be more unique lines for gay/lesbian NPCs and a stat where it tracks which spectrum the PC wants to lean towards and it alters the PC's texts in actions like Plead and PC's stats like arousal speed increased or decreased during same-sex depending on the PC's spectrum. Sure the NPCs would fuck the PC regardless of genders but it's kinda bland when they have the same reaction no matter the gender unless you cross-dressed and the reveal triggers them (for better or worse)

Does anyone know what the new footwork, striking, and kicking stats are for?
Dodge chance, punch damage, and kick damage respectively.
C&P from DoLP wiki:

New skills

  • Footwork skill: Decreases stability damage from all sources and increases stability recovery from planting your feet. (10 points is -2% stability damage and +2% stability recovery)
  • Striking skill: Increases the accuracy and damage of feints, punches and hook punches. (10 points is +1% accuracy and damage)
  • Kicking skill: Increases the accuracy and damage of kicks. (10 points is +1% accuracy and damage)

Wait, by DoTPlus do you mean the DoL+ Transmod version? I'd usually agree with the sentiment above, but if you're more into that realm of content, I don't see a reason to play the base game first, unless you're interested in getting to know the original flavor of DoL.

Can't say I've played DoTP (that is, Transmod+), but without getting too much into it, DoL+ is a bit more on the arcade side of things, whereas the base game is more simulation, at least in comparison to DoL+. They do play differently, but it's hardly going to ruin your experience to do a specific one before the other.

I would argue that original dol is better experienced first, so you know which is vanilla content and which is modded, dolp have tons of extra content and sometimes people confuse it for vanilla

I also suggest to try the original first, there must be something in the game that attract so many attemp to mod it. Mods are just addons.

For a new player would you recommend the base game, or the DoTPlus mod?
definitely base game. dol+ has too many new mechanics, and that's on top of the fact that base game already has too many for a new player. on top of that, saves from base game can be imported into dol+, but not the other way around.
