It does yes.

I've seen folks criticizing a game: "you have to lose to see the content? eugh bad game garbage and pointless hurr"... but that's such a peanut-brain criticism, because the mere possibility of losing (and taken advantage of) at any point is what a lot of people find alluring in the first place.

In other words, some people enjoy trying to keep the MC as pure as possible and also enjoy the idea that if they make a mistake or fail, that their MC will be subjected to the assailants perversions. This is the hidden appeal of such games that many people don't even realize.

Sure some are free to choose to play those types of games as slutty as they wish and continuously throw themselves or lose on purpose and etc (and that's fine), but I'm sure I'm not alone in finding the idea of playing in such a depraved world and trying to stay pure and safe is very appealing indeed.

And the more Vrelnir continues to add non-hentai stuff to do in the simulation, the more immersive and fun the gameplay will be while trying to avoid being fucked... and well, the more possible "perils" he adds the more challenging and rewarding it will be to try and avoid them
Too true!

Well, I'm in a pretty special niche to begin with, first being an androsexual woman who prefer female protag games, and a hidden fetish (that I have to compromise way too often) of virginity, with a thirst for rape-centric erotica. Gotta say DOL feels as if it was made for me, I'm very happy for it, but my play isn't so much "keep the purity", as it is a "work on the relationship so the wait can be satisfying".

I don't like playing insta-sex games, I prefer the sex be earned than "one click, ya got it", it feels more realistic to me, which I crave the most. It's fun that this game holds a danger of "bad end" sex, but to be completely honest, I value virginity and monogamy so much, that I would never allow myself to experience those "loses", so I have to say the "fear of rape/defilement" isn't actually a winning factor for me (I see the fun, but I could take it or leave it). Comparing the failure rape to losing a heart/life in action video games, I would never let my character experience that rape; while being more willing to let my character lose a 1-up, for instance. For example, there's a rape mod for Skyrim to replace death after losing a fight, and though that sounded more exciting than dying and rebooting a save, I find myself skipping the mod because I was never going to let my character get raped by some rando bandit, without rebooting a save, anyways; I found the companion "rape" mod more appealing, because anyone I was willing to see a sex scene with was going to be an important NPC/Companion anyways, but I must admit, it was a little disappointing that the rape mod didn't have a combat/resist feature to at least make the rape seem challenging(I believe the rape was a random rolled event when you sleep). I only find failure rape appealing, when it's with the characters I want to do the raping, if that makes sense?

I appreciate DOL first for it's virginity system, rather or not the virginity were in danger, and I fell in love with the features of romantic relationships/love interests. To me, I feel the virginity matters most because you can share it with an important NPC; this make sex combat more appealing in my mind, because, now, winning and losing means more than player seeing a sex scene (if I wanted that, I could just browse naughtmachinima); yeah, I can pretend all of these sex scrollers/combat games have virginal characters/ashamed by the rape, but in the long run, does it even really matter if you lose and get the little sex scene with that one sprite? It's just not for me. I actually never liked sex combat games, because there was never any romance to them (I exclusively play Love/Relationship/Romance games), DOL beats Girlslife and other sex text games by a mile, for various reasons, but mainly because love interests can rape, which is all I ever really wanted; far too many dark game uses rape as a punishment for the player, while me, with a rape fetish, should enjoy it in contrast to my character, who should be the one feeling punished.

The rape is the goal for me, I want it to happen, I just have to make sure it occurs on my terms, with the scenes and characters I want; I play all games like a story, especially ones with character creation. DOL does an excellent job challenging me to build the character for it, to where I just happened to find myself with an untouched, virginal character 3, game, months since her start! (And this isn't just because Avery takes so dang-gum long, I wouldn't pass the chance to kick Whitney's ass if you paid me :ROFLMAO:; their rape of my character would have to come about when the plot in my mind deems the moment right.)

Relatable and I understand where you're coming from.

At this point in time, many psychology studies have show that a sizeable percentage of women have a certain tendency to fantasize about a "rape scenario" once or twice, but I feel like this has created a huge misconception that we want to be forcefully raped by strangers anywhere/anytime, which is false.

The truth of the matter is more as you described: while we do fantasize about rape, that fantasy is wrapped in the context of a scenario where we have some level of control over it. That control might mean that it's by doing it with someone we have a relationship with or with an acquaintance that we find attractive and that we know will not maliciously hurt us, etc.

And in your case, there's also the added element of the virginity, which to us is more "precious" when compared to men and ultimately ties in into the allure of losing it during a rape fantasy to a meaningful someone.

So yes I can definitely see the appeal!

ngl, there is something to the aspect of losing, even when I usually end up throwing PCs in many games into enemies, there's something much more satisfying about it than just browsing a gallery
That's exactly it. To me, the fact that it's a game/fiction already fits my criteria of control. If I play the game "well" (i.e. don't lose, don't fall into the traps, etc) I can avoid the rape, but if later if I so choose to throw myself into the assailants, then that is also my choice. So the notion that I can control the actions of the MC and choose whether I'll succumb or not has a much greater appeal than simply going browsing pictures, even if the general outcomes are the same.

I know this breaks with the theme, but I have to ask.

Some time ago (a few months) I don´t know in what update it was but I remember that I read someone lost there saying that there was an event where having Robin as a couple, you could have an NTR event in which Witney would play the villain of the story and Once the event was over, Robin would question you about the relationship and you had the option of telling him that you liked Witney more (in the style of almost 80% of the Hen of 2011-to date) which would cause him to leave your world forever, is that true or was it crazy that someone mentioned a very kamikaze?

And by the way, anyone knows if the dev will add new poses or graphic scenes to the game in the near future? Or something even more distant and strange as sound to accompany the environment during the game?

There's something similar to that in Kylar's Halloween event.

That's a bit weird tbh, but I understand it. Irl it is still kinda bad, in hentai I wouldn't mind reading it, because of the fact that I know that it will end ok.

By the way, have any of you here played CoC? Because I initially thought this game will be like CoC, and hoped it wouldn't be like CoC.

Hello!

I have not played CoC, but I have played TiT(S?) way back when, and I heard the two were about the same??? Honestly, I don't think they compare to DoL, unless you're asking similar HTML type, read to play, game, then... I guess?

I'm going to be frank with you, you're asking a question that boarders on opinion, without enough information to even really answer that. Are you asking if you were to look for this game in a store, would they be in the same category? Or are you asking would people who play DoL have CoC in their "Also played/recommend this" list? Or are you asking if the appeal to DoL matches the appeal to CoC? I believe you're gonna have to explain what it is you're trying to avoid, more than what it is you preconceive is a similarity, to get a satisfying answer.

For example, I didn't touch CoC because, even though it provides one (I think?), I didn't feel it to be very het-woman protagonist inclusive. Also, the downfall for TiTS for me, was that it lacked substantial love interests, especially of the male variety, and, because of that, I couldn't even pursue anyone with the imagination that our relationship matters; I believe any LIs in TiTS was given with a mediocre event, and then the commitment was implied? I don't know, the wiki/forums only talked about female LIs, and, even then, I heard them complain that any relationships were just imagined via their major sex scene. Also, I played through TiTs for 5 hours, within a five day span, and I never ran into anyone who attracted my interests/wanted to commit to (actually never saw a man in that game, to be honest); I remember a lot of the monsters/combatants being female, or grotesque monsters, so I couldn't even be satisfied with the porn of it.

I play (games like) DoL for the NPC relationships, and DoL, currently in it's developing state, provides that for me, considering you can even toggle a love interests in the settings; the biggest indicator that a relationship will matter, in game. I dunno if CoC offers this. Secondly, DoL's setting is a slice of life, “You do you and someone might try and fightrape you for it” game play, while I think games like CoC (assuming here, never played it), because of it's "relation" (again, assuming, I see a lot of people comparing them) with TiTS, focus more on battle-sex is the goal “Find something to fight and/maybe fuck to get your skills up” type game. Even though there's almost literally a fight around every corner in DoL, I'm able to immerse myself into thinking my character is just a normal person trying to go about their day, and once in a while some creep engages them in combat/AKA rape, while I remember TiT feeling like absolutely nothing was happening if you didn't pursue a combatant to engage in; battle-sex, in theory, could be avoided entirely in DoL, while in TiT, avoiding a battle was akin to standing around waiting. As a plus, DoL has a pretty fun combat/sex (they're pretty much the same thing here) mechanic that I found pretty unique, and never experienced before; it takes your hands, feet, and mouth (along with sexy bits) into equation, instead of the rudimentary "punch, kick(critical chance), item, flee" options most RPGs provide. It really adds inclusion to not only the battle, but also the sex, when most games would have to fight until a win/lose, then you get smacked with an erotic text to enjoy (not complaining, just DoL opened my eyes).

And last, but certainly not least, if you got a hankering rape kink, DoL's entire premises focus around wanting to ravish your character, it's practically everyone's driving force, and the obstacle you're character is solely made to avoid/embrace. But that's a plot/setting feature, and not really game mechanic?

Throw me a bone, though, eh? I don't know exactly what you're statement is implying, you post as if someone's gonna go “Ah, yes! That CoC, I dislike it for the same reasons as you, here's why I ran to DoL~...”

Would be nice if we had an option to toggle Indestructible and Non-Stealable clothing (via cheat or otherwise), rather than just trying to pump their durability mid-game.

It's a bother to lose our clothing to theft or destruction in combat, thus getting stuck trying to move subtly through the city.
Wanna maintain that lovely bad-ass-succubae look after I finally gather the clothes for it, too.

I... wow... uhm, didn't expect an essay to my somewhat innocent question.
Anyways, I just seen somewhere that they are similar. So I wanted to check if that's true or not. I suppose it WAS a bad move to say what I said, I am just kinda... salty about CoC, and wanted to know what other people are thinking about it. I should have asked outright perhaps, or simply never ask in the first place (that was a dick move after all)

If I offended anyone, I am really sorry, that wasn't my intention at all. Please don't kill me...

Oh, shoot, I didn't intend to come off as aggressive! It's all good, no offense here. I posts novels, so that's a basic response from me, think nothing of it! :) Most of that wall of text was me answering your question, thoroughly, to the best of my ability; I honestly never played CoC, so I'm sorry I couldn't give accurate input to your question, but since I heard TiTS is similar, I tried to compare what I figure was the next best thing. I also tried to offer my game play experience in DoL, if that could help you in your comparison, but take that with a grain of salt, because everyone experience everything differently.

But if you were just looking to shoot the shit at a peeve of yours, that's cool, too; I do personally believe DoL is by far better than those games, for the general plot alone, and what I read up on CoC, it seems pretty old school. It reminds me of an old text game I played several years back, "Flexible Survival", I played it for it's unique charm, as it was one of the first text base game I ever played, but it was pretty hollow and only served as a quirky curiosity to the erotic content. I believe DoL won't disappoint you if you're looking for substance, but it is still in development, so who knows what the future holds for the completed game? Looks like further greatness, to me, though!

You didn't come off as agressive, I just realised that what I said was... pretty fucking bad. Like I'm trying to pick a fight. In reality I just want to understand why people like CoC. Because there were several things that didn't sit well with me, and I am not talking about fetishes, because it's kink shaming and kink shaming is stupid (as long as it doesn't actually hurt anyone)

Ah, I understand! I don't think it's too much of a problem to vent your frustrations of another game, especially if you find DoL to meet those expectations CoC lacked for you.

Well... if I can vent a bit...
how do I say this... I knew I wouldn't like CoC for sexual stuff, but hoped that the story and writing would be fun. Well... I didn't like it. And the worst thing isn't that I didn't like it, but that it made me think "Why someone likes this?". Not in a bad way, I am genuinely curious of why so many people like the writing while for me it looks bad

Making the sexual content a reward instead of something that happens on failure makes sense from a game-design perspective, I mean the point of games is to win and the point of lewd games is to see lewds so if you align those two together it just makes perfect sense right? Well I don't know why but in practice games that use sexual content as a reward tend to just be grindy and soulless, like you're just grinding to see that next CG, rinse and repeat. As for games that have loss on content, you're not just playing to win the game, you are also constantly battling the temptation to give in to your sexual urges, which is super hot. That's not to say there aren't any bad "content on loss" games, but I've personally yet to find an impressive "content on win" game. For this reason I really dislike male protag games because you are usually put in a dominant position, doesn't help that they also have terrible writing where you always end up banging your neighbor, babysitter, childhood friend, step-sister, sister, mother, aunt, the dog, all on the same day somehow.

Yeah, I get you, I'm not much of a fan of Fenoxo's(community?) writing either, but once again, I figured something like that was the barrier between male and female interests; it all seemed so heavily "Horn-Dog man wanting to stick it in as many hot babes as possible" feel (I can't speak for any bi/gay women, but given how masculine the play felt to me, I couldn't imagine it being much better for them, unless they were masculine themselves). There's no real excuse, because DoL appeals to me, and I'm sure it appeals to the male readers too; it's one of those rare gems were a developer actually knows how to write inclusively, coupled with what I believe is just good writing. The characters are dynamic and interesting, and even though a good bit of them are terrible people, I find myself wanting more and more interactions with them; but, I just like terrible people :p.

Robin's a good egg, which I'm not into sweet wholesome characters like that, but somehow they make me want to keep interacting with them, on a Super-save a Hoe/That's My Best Friend level? I'm wishing when this game reach completion, there might be an opening for platonic relationship with some characters; like, I understand the sexual tension between most people, Whitney the Horny Bully, Kylar the Love-at-First-Sight Yandere, and whatever Eden and Black Wolf, and Alex, and possibly Grate Hawk is = characters I've haven't met/explored yet (looking at Eden next, they got that trouble I like); even Robin feels good with that wholesome childhood friend crush feel; I get the attraction dynamic needs to stay, it'll be boring without it, but I'm hoping more interactions would be less "my character reciprocating their advances", and more "my character just hanging out/possibly leading them on(if this is more necessary)". I do like one sided romances, both of and for my character, and though I could take it or leave it, I've a few head cannons that involve friendships with Robin and even possibly Whitney, and I wouldn't want them to leave, when I pursue someone else, like Avery, but I don't want all of my interactions to solely be "I'm attracted to you, too" feels to it.

I dunno, I'm just invested in these major characters, so I'm kind of conflicted that the only option with them is a polygamy(not doing it) or a conflict(fine with that, but Why Can't we Be Friends™?); that's how good this writing is to me!

Honestly, I'm so fucking tired of the "All men are perverted dogs that think about sex 24/7". In every VN comes up the phrase from main character that says that. I won't deny that some are like that, but not everyone for Pete's sake. And bringing that up in every damn game just looks stupid and unimaginative.

Well, technically the foundation is already there. Most scenes with Robin is platonic to begin with, because they're too meek on their confidence unless you build it up, so I'll expand on the possibility of their relationship below.

Whitney, Kylar, and Avery would be the trickier one, as they're more dominant in their attraction for the MC; I'll first have to state that I haven't dabbled too much in Kylar's content, mainly because I want to keep their jealousy at bay, while avoiding any obvious romance prompts (I have their love around 40%, where they're attempting, but failing, to get a seat next to me in English, and don't plan to increase it any further just yet).

Now, I'm pursuing Avery, so my explanation is going to be skewed in their favor, but I think the older/wilder LIs would need to keep their distance as they are now (From never really meeting Eden/Black Wolf/Alex/Grate Hawk, I think it would be more unlikely to begin a friendship if you're already pursuing someone else; their romance is a little too Stockholm Syndrome/Bridal Kidnap-ie to mesh with the High School crew, but maybe there might be a dynamic between those four??? I'll have to experience them before I can say much, but I'll refer to them as the "Wild Crew", with the three high schoolers and Avery as the "City Crew").

Considering Avery is a mature Sugar Parent, I would assume Avery wouldn't give two damns what you do, as long as you make your appointment when they come a-calling; their "friend" relationship would play out much as the business already does "Pretend to be their sparkly date for the evening, and cash out if you act well". I've dedicated my play to rejecting Avery's advances, so they already play out in the "reciprocated" way I'm looking for; Avery doesn't feel very possessive to me (not in the "You obviously want me" type of way), so I can't complain if they were to show up, and I was pursuing another LI, they already make the relationship feel like a business transaction, keeping their gripes to themselves when I reject them, which is all groovy.

Though, I haven't experienced their rage, yet, so I can't confidently say if I can disassociate myself from feeling like we're committed/my actions are one of reciprocated interests; I've heard nothing of it, but maybe the situation feels more "you're in it for more than the money" once at a breaking point? If so, then I would hope for a non committed route, where Avery remember there aint no labels on it (yet).

Whitney, on the other hand, is the epitome of possessive, they make a claim on you the first (second, actually) time you meet them, even if it's kind of a halfhearted "I own all the sluts" declaration. A few times I accept going along with them after school, I feel like a gang member, but a couple of other times, I felt like their date, more arm candy than Avery makes me feel, and my character going along with it, as if I was vying for their attention; which I wasn't, I was just submitting to their dominance to placated them, half in humor to see what's gonna happen, half in not wanting them to fall into their Dismissal Event.

One of my biggest complaint is when they picked you up for Halloween, of course, I could have rejected it, but the invite, which could have turned out to be another "part of the gang" moment like their school invites, turned into a heavy date event; which I know is the whole point, but with one simple change, I could have imagined it was my character just hanging out with the town's rascals, and not reciprocating the gang-leader's advances (Whitney's free to think I was, but the tone of the event felt like I truly was, though I didn't want it feeling that way, I wanted it to feel more coerced/fed up).

Now, playing a defiant character, I'm sure my statement was different than the other two personalities, but at the end of the event, before parting,

sort of implying I would have been down for it, if not for the voyeuristic nature of the setting, which absolutely was not the reason I rejected it.

Anyways, a lot of Whitney's outings suggest I'm going along with them as Their Girl, which I'm absolutely not, but there's no option for me to refute this, and half the time, my character is responding as if inclined to the idea, which I'm not, but I guess that was me giving consent because I submitted to Whitney's dominance (I completely understand this, but that's the complaint, I'm hoping I could hang out with them without my character believed to be doing so in the hopes of cultivating romantic relations).

I understand Whitney sees my character as theirs, and feels any attention is flirty attention, and I don't want that to be erased, but I want my character to have the platonic option to either deny, or at least respond in ways that rejects that notion, while not rejecting Whitney's company. The game dynamic is pretty much "Hang out with them to build love, or ignore them so you don't"; I want a middle man option!

So far, Kylar stays pretty platonic for the time being, in fact, their Tsun-Tsun, runaway status, at the moment, is sort of a main factor, so I'm comparing them with Robin at this point (who acts like a friend until the end, unless you obviously flirt or pick lustful actions towards them, and even then...), Whitney will always see you as "Their Slut", and Avery will always expect you to play the "Arm Candy", but most of the City Crew's scenes can't be unlocked until you blossom the romance, and unlock their Love Interests Status; which I won't be doing, but do wish I could have further interactions with them.

Anyways, I've beat around the bush explaining what is done with them (from my experience), so here's how I think a friendship with them could be solved: Personally, I've only interacted with Whitney, considering I'm avoiding Robin and Kylar for the moment (for various reasons that are too heavy for my game play at the moment), but Whitney could be a good homie for more delinquent builds, with more delinquent interactions between them, just like when they take you at the end of school, but instead, with a friend-zoning rejection that feels more platonic than "Not this time, Whitney, but maybe later <3" atmosphere I feel between them.

I don't want the sexual harassment to stop, I don't even want the passive "My Girl" quips to go away, I just want the moment to feel like being apart of the gang at the end of the day, a slow build up of "respect" and acceptance (hoo-boy, am I using those words loosely), with the occasional attempted gang-bang/fights (especially if sexually rejected, it's the high light of my day at school), like with all those Biker Club clichés where the rookie gets hazed/groupies get passed around; our character would be the perpetual "rookie/passaround". I'm not looking for a good friend, I'm just looking for a platonic, non date like, hang out with Whitney, as apart of the crew; I believe I kicked their ass enough to deserve it

For the others, I find myself avoiding them and not talking to them, not because I don't like them, but because I don't want them falling in love with me; I have a feeling I can't really reject them, because me developing the relationship was my "consent" to begin with, so I just want more scene that doesn't lead to them initiating me as their partner.

Whitney won't leave me alone, so I see/interact with them every day at school (juggling letting them win some dominance, and taking it away when it gets too sexual; a real "pick and choose your battles" with them), which is fun, but when more content is added, I would like the pre-relationship content to expand, too. I kind of already feel like I'm friends with Whitney, with how many times we interact through the week; I want that energy with the other LIs (this isn't me being salty that I only see Avery once every Saturday :sneaky:).

Robin wants to hang, but

, so I avoid them, but when/if I do, I'm concerned they're gonna confess their love to me, with my character automatically reciprocating it, when I'm here like "I love you, platonically, like a little baby thing. Now, let me take care of you."

; same with Whitney, I would like more Robin hangouts, but without the romance.

I don't know what Kylar got, but I want them to get their confidence to love me close up, and come hang out, just not with me reciprocating their advances (in that juicy friend-zone way, they can keep their Yandere Stalker/Jealousy/Rape-y quirks, just without me committing to returning the feeling).

I'm sure there's more scenes with Whitney, but I'm not getting their love up, because

or feeling like I won't kick their ass for touching me. With Avery and the others, I don't feel they're apart of my peer group to care making friends with them outside of the context they're already in; further research with the Wild Crew would be needed before I can comment/suggests on them, so they can stay as they are.

In the end, I don't know, exactly, how it would be done, I'm not the writer, but food for thought: I wish we could build a relationship without a romantic gesture from my character, at least with our peer group.

Robin and Kylar should be easy, they have "innocent" intentions, Robin's crush being a poorly hidden secret, like all "childhood friends" trope, and Kylar's Yandere-ness leaving them to want to get close to you by any means necessary, even if with a trip through the Friend Zone; Whitney poses the most challenge, as they're the horniest of the City Crew, but what gang leader don't carry a bit of possessive sexuality to their attractive subordinates? (It's called gang-banging for a reason ;)) And, to be fair, I guess Avery should keep it professional (like those old Sugar Parents that allow their young, hot thing to "Sow their Oats", and don't mind keeping the relationship open, as long as you play your part), but so far, I think Avery is already like that...?
