I just realized something and I don't know whether to cry or die of laughter... So I just realized that Path of Exile 2, is basically still in 0.4.0 early access build and is a damn near finished product with hundreds of hours of gameplay, while being an early access 0.4.0 build... And then you look at all these porn games here, that are also at like 0.4, 0.6 or even higher... And realize they have barely any content... Oof... And they stay like that for months or years... OOF! Never realized how big the money milking actually is, until now, never realize the scale of it until I compared it to an actually game in a similar build status... OOF!

^ What Ashira said. The company that makes PoE makes tens of millions in profit each year (that's profit, not even revenue). Even the most lucrative of these crowdfunded porn games are usually raking in the tens of thousands a year...

Also that's not how version numbers work. You can't compare them between software projects like that. They are totally arbitrary and mean different things in the context of different projects. One dev/team might decide to increment the version number by 0.1 after the rough equivalent of 300 hours of work, and a different dev/team on a different project might only increase it by 0.05 after the same amount of work put in. These numbers mean nothing except when compared to other updates within the same project as a rough estimate of how much progress has been made between versions.

One of the dumbest things I've ever read. We are all now stupider because of this. single or small dev teams making games that you compare to fulltime 200 person dev teams with over a decade of fulltime experience under their belt. Just wow.
