F95zone might boost visibility, but visibility isn’t income. If devs aren't getting paid, they have every right to walk. Exposure doesn’t put food on the table ...
Saying 'don’t complain if you don’t pay' isn’t about gatekeeping; it’s about basic respect for labor. You wouldn’t expect a restaurant to keep serving you for free just because you tell your friends about it. Same applies here. If a dev quits due to lack of funds, that’s not them betraying the community — that’s the community failing to support them.
In a way you are correct. I support over 30 games and F95 is the only reason I found almost all of them. Too many newbie developers think they should get professional pay while they are learning what they are doing (many doing C,D,or F work), pricing themselves out of the market and blame sites like F95 because they are not starting off at $1000's a month.
Several I do support are in my opinion overpriced for a level where the developer provides access to a game, but has a support level for support with few or NO benefits. Not surprisingly, this level is often a MAJOR level of their overall support, sometimes over half of the total dollar amount (downloads come from F95, etc). This indicates they have overpriced their work.
