calling games bad just cuz of their character creator tool (HS) is like saying any game that uses daz3d is good, and we all know that's not true
not tryna force u to like anything, just think you could give certain games a shot without having an unprecedented bias against them, some devs can do really good work with the tools they have, including HS
the top rated games on this forum are top rated for a reason
Extremely off-topic, but while you can make a game which is worth playing with any kind of graphics (or even text-based only) and on any kind of engine, there is nothing wrong with stating what someone likes best.

In my opinion, Ren'py + Daz is still the golden standard for VN's. Other graphics and/or engine are negative points for me. Although within the Ren'py + Daz VN genre, there are also definite quality differences between devs, even from a purely technical standpoint.

Yeah, when I see Honey Select I wince. It takes a really good game for me to overcome my distaste for HS. Fortunately, there are actually a few that have managed to do that for me.

It's been a looooong time since I've even looked at anything other than Ren'Py, though.

Me too. I just find HS too cartoony/anime. I don't mind Eternium, it's an excellent adventure game.
Only non-Ren'Py games I've really liked are Man of the House and Mystwood Manor.

Doesn't Renpy have nothing to do with the renders ? I thought it was just an engine for the interface and stuff like that.
Maybe what you guys oppose to HS, is Daz (or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, it's also possible).

Yes renpy is just the framework to make a VN, images are generated in another software (daz or hs). But you can use other frameworks than renpy, like unity or rpgm.

Hopefully this hasn't been asked 1 million times already:
Is this choice of any significant importance, or does it just change flavour text? The WT mod doesn't highlight the choice, so most likely this choice doesn't matter that much. Just wanted to confirm :)

Agreed. I support some 20+ devs on patreon and SS (and have supported some dozen others previously) and they’re all but one using that combination. HS or koikatsu don’t really do it for me unless it is so crazily kinky, wild and well written that I’ll be able to overlook its cartoony style.

Will curiosity kill the Kat?... Just kidding :)

Well, I just don't think it fits the personality I've molded for the character.

I mean, if I just wanted to watch porn I could go to any of the millions of sites on the internet, but in a game I'm looking for something else (a very popular discussion topic on the forum) and luckily this game provides me with an attractive story and enough freedom to choose the path I want the protagonist to follow.

The Stalker can be anything, from a lusty sadist to a heroic idealist, and let's just say that the choices I've made so far in the story lead me more in the latter direction. Having sexual relations with his niece is outside of the previously established moral principles, which takes me out of the story and creates disaffection towards the main character.

That's why I say that I don't mind waiting until the problem is resolved, in order to maintain the consistency shown so far.

I hope I have satisfied your curiosity.
If you are heroic idealist then the only women you should have sex with is your wife

Man... This is one of the best looking games on this site IMO... I normally do not like the big buxom on small frame women but these models are proportionally disproportionate somehow lol.
I flew through this game in 2 days and hit next day like 10 times before I got sad and realized I finished this games current state. Everyone's model in this game is well done and provocative in their own way and the story is great too...It does seem like how the 'Fallout' world would be end up being. I love it.

Correct. But as I said, Ren'py is the superior engine for VN's (without too much gameplay) compared to alternatives like Unity or (gasp) Tyrano. And Daz creates superior renders compared to HS, TK17, The Sims etc.

Because Ren'py + Daz is such a popular combination, many people tend to confuse them and/or lump them together.

Technically you could put Daz renders in a HTML game or have a purely text-based Ren'py game but those combinations are quite rare.

Technically Daz is more work with posing and rendering compared to HS etc. so it's technically a poor choice for lazy devs.

I would have said 'inexperienced' rather than 'lazy', otherwise I agree with what you have said.

Besides, we have probably both seen a lot of instances where both inexperienced AND/OR lazy developers have come up with lousy renders in their Daz games. Not to mention all the Daz games where the developers do gain experience and go back and re-render early parts of their games which no longer meet their standards. This can become a consternation to players who just want the developers to continue with game progression.

What I meant was, that, if I were to develop a game, I'd definitely be a lazy dev, because I don't have that much free time and I'd prefer telling a story over creating pretty renders.

And I'd definitely avoid Daz but instead go for an easier option.

For example HS or TK17 where you just need to create the characters and do a bit of basic posing (I'd use sprites over a background for non-sex scenes and the basic poses for the sex scenes).

I would probably use Ren'py though.

Some HS2 games have amazing renders though. It's just very different.

Eternum looks a lot better than a lot of Daz3D games it's not just the technology, but how you use it. There are a lot of Daz games with really flat lighting and boring scene composition or characters that look really weird.

On Topic: I hope we get more impregnation options in the next update. The one with fairy was great, but I'm feeling greedy. It has been teased so much since the early updates and it is finally starting to arrive.

Yeah, that's it, but You do need to put in a lot of work to make HS game to look like Eternum, Pale Carnation or even Now and Then directors cut
It's not that easy to make "Magic" with mods, studio... So lazy work = lazy result
Same with DaZ, but it's Just more popular = more shitty games

DS Visuals are really among Best for now, so no complaints here))
Yeah, more preg fetish for preg fans (y)
I'd like to knock up Ain tbh
