Shani is fairly boring. The desert raiders at least have agency are in command and actually do stuff. Shani took us on a fairly mundane boring walking sim through a building but to each his own.

She can be boring if you turn her into Ain 2.0. Zaton's house is already full of women with no purpose besides eye candy.
The devs can make great things with Shani if they want. Like her adventure in the last zone but adding sex scenes. Imagine Lara Croft in this setting, she can find some fuck buddy like the elf girl, be raped by raiders and so on.
In my opinion Desert Stalker doesn't benefit from the incest genre at all. Maybe the tag can attract incest fanatics but the best parts of the game are Zaton adventures with the raiders, the Queen, the mutants... You don't want to waste time at home when the world out there has so much to offer.

It's gonna sound incredibly misogynistic (because it is) but that's the reason I don't usually go for female protag games.
I want to play the guy that's using, not the girl that's getting used.
It's incredibly hard to balance that in a game like this. If you let Shani get fucked (or worse, without consent) by anyone the NTR police will trow a hissy fit. If you don't let her have any action her scenes will look like superfluous filler. There's some kind of wiggle room if it's a lesbian scene but that's basically it.

I don't care that much about Shani but the devs can make rape scenes or whatever with her. It shouldn't be an issue because several girls can be fucked by others already. Fairy was the sex toy of some decayed not so long ago.
