I kept the very first version of the game, so to speak, for the story. Here is a link for those who are interested, look at how it all started:

Thanks for sharing 0.01 version. I checked it out of curiosity. It started in a real modest way with little content and not so great graphics. And then it made an enormous progress to the point where it is now. And I can only wish that we will get more of it.

I hope you're all doing fine! Today is a good day, because I am can finally say that we are hit a big milestone towards getting Desert Stalker to Steam!

The game has been reviewed and approved and we are waiting for the store page to be reviewed too. As soon as the page is up and running, I will let you know.

Needless to say it's very relieving to know that we got the confirmation, a big chunk of stress has gone away. All the details about the release, the future of the development and everything you need to know will be included in a post soon!

Now about progress, the first repeatable from the list of household repeatable events I want to add is a "Spar with Shani" one, where you can practice fighting together, and depending on how much you focus on the actual fight and not on her... distracting outfit, it will lead to a win or defeat.

And, because you are a good mentor, you may also remind her of the consequences of a defeat... in an unforgiving wasteland, this training might just become relevant for her in the future. Lose, on the other hand, and she can do whatever she wants. What do you think she could make you do?

Render progress:
Mutant's quest II: 50%

Reworks (& folder names):
Shani's first adventure (d2e): 100%
Back from the pyramid: (d2f): 0%
Ivy's test; mistreated slave (d3b): 20%
Shani and MC in old Cairo (d3c): 10%

Ain's attempted kidnapping (d4b): 0%
Discovering the mutants (d5b): 100%

Kateryna & Igor first visit: 100%
Abrax' introduction: 30%
Showing Kateryna the city (d6a): 100%
First Asani visit (d6b): 30%

Complete code rework: 0%
UI rework (home buttons): 0%

Repeatable events:
Household repeatable events:

I really don't want to complain again, but:

1) That is not a sword but a scaled up dagger. This makes the hilt way too long and bulky.

2) If it were a short sword (with an unusually long hilt), then one should grip it just below the "guard", as close to the blade as possible, otherwise the balance will be shit.

Sorry devs, I love the game but if you want to have this kind of scenes in the game (and you kind of have to given the story) then you really need to pay more attention.

Actually it looks a lot like a greek bronze Xiphos, and could well be something akin. Hopefully in steel, not bronze. Zetans might not be able to make steel out of iron, but they don't need it. They are surrondend by already ready great industrial steel and they could use it to make new tools and weapons. You don't need to melt iron to turn a steel bar into a sword, you only need to heat it up until it get soft and patiently shape it by hammering.

Anyway yes, the hild is way oversized for such a short weapon.

It could actually work to handle it like that. The hilt as a double grip and there is a ring structure in the middle of it that works kinda like a guard if you wield the sword from the far grip. I handled a long sword (1 hand and half) with a similar hilt.

It's not optimal, but you can wield a sword like that. You gain an extra palm of reach and the slight unbalance make you slower but also the impact is more powerful.

Overall i think we can consider the scene "off" or even "wrong" but not absurd.

I am guessing it's this one:

Totally agreed, and Machete ; yes, it can work, like that, the sword type is more like a "Gladius" (actually found one similar as wooden training sword see pic)
But that is not the point, here,
1. holding a sword like that not close to the balance center, results in a bad leverage what means that the strike from the attacker blows through your guard or worse the sword is knocked out of your hand,
2. parring with the broadside of a sword, is also a bad Idea, you don't have control over the foes blade, it can slide either down cutting your hand,(here more so because it has not a knuckle guard like the "Messer") or up slicing your head.
the reason why you parry with the edge is to prevent the attackers sword to slide and have a fix point where you can disengage, or push back.
as what Yngling said about the hilt the form of the blade is roman "gladius" or pompeyan gladius, the hilt is like a "langes messer." the characteristic pummels from the gladius, were for counter balance the blade.
I know and I said myself it is for show purposes (Hollywoods sword fighting scenes, are not really realistic but look good)
again not a critic, or a complaint, this are suggestions explained as why we say what we say.
and there are more HEMA and sword fans on this site as what you can imagine.
I'll leave in the spoiler a chorograped, but realisitc (

they use HEMA techinques )"Messer" fight (medieval short sword similar to cutlass)
edit: the "Gladius were short max 60 cm long overall

Nice lighting on the render on the right. I especially like the attention made to the character design on the reworked version. Although, I wish the dev had made the bloodshot red raider eyes more visible on the character in the improved version. Maybe it's just not as clearly visible in the reworked character design due to the choice of lighting in the scene, but just a thought if anything.
