Kateryna is not a slave. The only slaves are Emilia and Fairy.

Emilia is added to the house as a slave very early on. If you don't have Emilia in the house, then you have to give the queen the bastet figurine towards the beginning of the game and then don't refuse her gift (Emilia).

There's no need to give the queen a statue. My statue was exchanged for an elf. It came back empty-handed. The queen still gave me Amelia.

Yep, Amelia is the reward for checking out the caravan raid, a quest you cannot fail. You can refuse her, but you cannot miss the offer.
