People, you played a test version with tons of bugs... stop clinging to hope for old saves even from this previous test version. Start a fresh game and you will see that everything works. From that point you can expect your saves to work in the future. If something doesn't work make sure you inspect various setting as there are such things as content filters!

+ I think it'd be wise to delete your persistent file(s) if you've played the beta earlier. Inside C:\Users\<YOUR_USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\DesertStalkerEA-100001, but you should delete inside game's game\saves folder as well (including the saves there, or just delete whole folder).

You can see all the opening scenes from all versions in the top right corner of the menu.

Looking at all the comments.....does nobody else think the queen is hot??? Also if there's 1 game I have to replay from the beginning I'm ok with it being this one. One of the best games on here.

I downed v17 and since previous saved games caused issues I decided to start form 0. Getting errors pretty much on my first choice (save the girl or give him the statue)

Uhm. Be sure to have download the 0.17.1.1 version, which is the rework for Steam.

Despite all my salt in the posts above it works very well and the reworks of the scenes are rich and impressive.

As much as I'm glad that the game is on Steam and that the developers are getting more money and more interest in the game, if there are going to be limitations and changes during the development process, as mentioned in the thread above, I honestly think it's going to backfire badly on the developers.

The steam update was impressive, good to see some "untouched" characters getting extra attention. Bunch of new characters are added too. Hopefully, the focus on the "family" dynamics will not take a backseat. And hopefully, their content will not become more tame as they gain more fame. Even Rockstar games has decided to root out "problematic" content from their past and future games, so success can be a double edged sword for edgy games sometimes. Hoping for the best, and fapping.

Well, anyways as long as there is only the one scene at the start with Ain and Zhara that is altered I guess I have to live with it and instead feel happy about better renders and looks.

Very true. It is still setting a precedent though and still a completely illogical stance and thing to cut given the rest of the 'daughter' content that is in the VN...but...*shrugs*

Putting it back in is actually a pretty simple process, if there really is enough interest then I'll be happy to make a RCM for this scene and this scene alone unless someone beats me to it.

I've been quickly skipping through 0.16 and 0.17 side by side and am impressed with a lot of the earlier scenes being re-rendered. Improves the game quality making it more consistent.

I haven't gone through the whole game comparison yet, but it seems that "Ain's Massage" may have been removed (as well as the earlier Zahra & Ain scene in the game, and previously discussed in this thread) or have I not reached that bit yet?

I'm missing Ain's massage on 17.1 as well. Is this a bug or was it removed intentionally?

I am still feeling I need a bit more info about what changed to feel mentally prepared.

They could have cut out all content with omar or whoever that cuck dude was. But Ain is a little sensitive topic for me
