I don't have the links but I have that version and I keep it exactly to watch Ain some times. Ain was *WAY* better to look at in that version for me.

Not necessarily. It's not in the map and the map is somewhere close to Cairo, but Cairo is indeed a big city. The Nilo could just be further distant.

I'm pretty sure it was explicitly said to be all dried up at some point, and look at the map; there are a bunch of ships in the sand at the top-right.
