Well, I do have poll results that clearly show that a much higher percentage of the general player base self inserts than NTR fans.

If you don't self insert, you are not gonna have a lot of emotional attachment, catharsis, or anything of the sort. It's simply just dark porn, where the situations are immoral and the elements of female corruption are high. Granted, you could still empathize and feel bad for the guy without self inserting, but these types of players still enjoy NTR (at least those that are choosing to play NTR games), though I find that they tend to prefer stories where the cucked guy comes out at least OK at the end, if not outright winning in some revenge ending. They also probably enjoy netorase more than standard NTR stuff.

If you do self insert, it's obviously gonna bring out strong emotional responses. A small percentage of NTR fans do thrive on those bad feelings by self inserting as the cucked MC. They enjoy that. And obviously, the overwhelming majority of anti-NTR players who self insert will blow a fuse when stuff like that happens to "them."

Obviously, self inserting NTR haters and non-self insert NTR enjoyers don't make up the whole player base. There are non-self inserters that just don't like fucked up stories, and the true cuck players that self insert in NTR. But clearly, at least in the NTR fandom, self inserting is the minority by a pretty big margin. It just makes sense intuitively too. Does it make more sense for people to enjoy increasingly fucked up porn stories as they get desensitized to vanilla over the years? Or do you think that the number of masochistic cuckold people in the world is high enough to explain the amount of NTR content produced and consumed? I'm thinking the former.

And before we get too sidetracked, Desert Stalker isn't really NTR or even netorase. It's just "alpha sharing" that is completely power fantasy instead of being thematically derived from cuckoldry or masochistic tendencies like in the typical netorase stories. And before someone loses it again, no, I'm not saying sharing is more alpha than not sharing in this game. It's just two ways to play the same character. MC is completely in control in both routes.

It's like asking a group of women if they like to play tennis on weekends versus asking them if they regularly have one-night-stands on weekends. Without knowing anything about the group, the second set of responses will be much lower as there's a strong incentive not to be honest.

And yes, I'm quite aware that Desert Stalker isn't ntr - I'm one of those that loathes that label and language, because I like swinging games and those get grouped in with garbage like 'my wife gets gangbanged by homeless men' - so when I refer to NTR here, it's for sake of brevity only.

You and me sound like birds of a feather. I remember playing Eve online or "spreadsheets in space" just stopping and asking myself what am I doing. I spent literally hours trying to optimize rockets in Kerbal space program, when I could make one big dumb rocket and be done with it. Even when it comes to AVN's I got my strategy to optimize cleaning of the DIKs frat, even though it gives you a wide margin to complete it. Satisfactory is on my list but dare not download it.

This put a huge smile on my face at the relatability, it just so happens you're talking to the Nocxium/Mexallon Baron of Dodixie, who's also immensely proud of his stock-vanilla mun-capable VTOL SSTO.

You know you're doing it right(?) when the planning stage takes 10 times longer than the actual task.

I remember seeing this a good while ago when it first came out and haven't really tried it since, but didn't the daughter look different before? I was wondering if anyone had an image of the first version of her, and also why she was changed.

Ive just started the game myself so I can be wrong but there are 2 daughters. Which do you think had a redesign?

See, it's been so long that I thought there was only the one. And I mean the daughter at the start of the game. The big-breasted dark-haired one in the fourth pic of the preview images. Seems to me she wasn't as busty before and also had lighter hair. I could be mistaken, but it seems to me like the dev did the same as the one from Picture Perfect and changed her because she looked too young maybe? I don't know.

heh...you guys are all youngsters. The first video game I played was Pong on a neighbor's Odyssey. The experience was much like listening to Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time...nothing's been quite the same since.

On the risk of being OT, it was Harem Hotel.

Not everyone's cup of tea, but the two most powerful scenes from VNs I ever felt were from The Deluca Family and Leap of Faith. The scene in TDF was unlike anything I have ever experienced in any medium ever. Best romantic scene in a VN for me was from Big City Pleasures (The game itself is average to good, but that one scene was outstanding).

Sorry for derailing the thread, Desert Stalker is one of my favourite games on F95, so no shine should be taken from it.

The poll is anonymous. It doesn't show the user name (not that the user name would link to their real life anyways). There is no reason to lie, unless you think they managed to lie to themselves.

The survey methodology is the best you're ever gonna get on the topic. I don't think there are any double blind experiments to determine what really goes inside a fapper's head.

In the fall of '76 I took my first programming course. The code had to be written then transferred to punchcards. People would carry boxes of those cards and were super protective of them...maybe to the point of boobytraps, etc. As the program grew, so did the number of cards. It was a real chore to carry them around. Sadly, a couple of times I witnessed someone drop their box. Hundreds of cards all over the floor and no longer in order. The person would drop to the floor, sit in the middle of all the cards and weep.

I think the dev mainly focused on getting good with static renders and has only recently started attempts at animating, so it might literally be down to some scenes being easier to animate than others.

I've been around for the dev making at least one set of re-rendered and redesigned scenes, so there's probably been more redesigns between when you first played/observed it and when I picked it up.

Could easily agree with those two. In LoF it wasnt Cece for me, it was the real picture of flowers at the end.
Also the part in Timestamps where he meets his sister as a 40 year old, the writing was just perfect, like who complains of foot pain in a porn game, loved it.

Ain was redone, but minimum amount to make her look a little older so as to not look underage.

I searched the thread for "mission bug" but I guess I didnt do a good job or no one asked. Two quests I cant complete atm.

1) The Rabia's daughter quest. The mom says shes gonna talk to you. The mission board says to visit them again. I do, but there arent any options I can select.
2) The slave in my basement. It doesnt matter how I treat her, it does not progress even though the mission board says Ive done 3/5 interactions. After searching some more, it seems being nice to her (3/5 interactions) is the furthest you can go. Her path is set apparently.

1) Did you sleep and tried again? I had no problem with that quest.
2) Again, no problem at all, got the gratitude scene because i always chosed the healing option.
You are aware that you have to sleep to get the next interaction, yes?
