Being a fan is in no way defined. There is a huge difference between being a fan and being a fanboy. Not sure if it is a reflection of your age, but more settled people have no need to scream and wave flags everytime something happens. Fans come as silent types too and it's actually a dick move to try to press your fanboying onto another person. Discourse starts with accepting each others positions and not by starting personal attacks.

P.S. If you wonder why this isnt a reply to you directly - you are on ignore

I think I explained myself quite well and not knowing the character's original name because I use a different one has no bearing on how I feel about the game and the story.
And it's not "whining and complaining". It's just how I've been feeling about it lately and since this is a discussion thread, I was curious to know if anyone feels the same and, agreeing or disagreeing, discuss it. Feels now it was a mistake.
you have to sooner or later understand and grow a thick skin there are people on this website, people like Maviarab you see how he quickly dismissed your opinion and attacked you. there are people on this website just like that , you can not have a opinion about a AVN being negitive or dislike a AVN that they like, to them it's a personal attack on them thats how they see it. i'm sorry you got to see that on your first couple post not knowing you would be attacked but i hope you have better luck next time on your next couple post. don't take the dick move of one angry person as a opinion of all of us, some of us value opinions of others on AVN's.

Don't know how people are going to take this because it's a very popular game but I can't be the only that feels like it has become a victim of its own success.
I say this because the pacing up until the older daughter (don't know her default name) comes back from the Zone was great and it felt like it was going somewhere. After that, feels like I'm playing one of those filler seasons of The Walking Dead, the difference being I've got to wait months for each episode to release.
It's just getting boring. I remember being excited at the time how the plot of the fight between the mutants and Zeta was going to play out and the role we would play in it (like we could side with the Queen, side with the mutants or even play both sides) and feels like it has been completely abandoned. You could say this new Queen chapters we've been getting are part of that story but are they really? Because they feel a bit self contained and the mutants side of the story hasn't been touched on in God knows how long so there's no dynamic us and the story itself can play off.

It's a shame because this was my favorite game but now feels like its success has led the dev to ditch their original plan for the story and it's now just getting bloated with side content that progresses nothing because the game is now way too profitable to end it. Ironically, kinda like The Walking Dead.
You quickly realized that a few people were not happy that you wrote this and the way you appreciate this game. I´m glad a few more took the time to actually engage with you like normal people.
As for what you said, I wished Walking Dead filler was as good as this lol.
You are kind of right with the update contents, it has been very focused on side quests and sex events, although I love the way they are done so much that I don´t really mind. But it seems the ideal update content should always have something relating to the main quest and then two/three things about side missions. As someone has pointed out, it seems the dev is going to start doing just that, starting with the next update.

It's probably for monetization purposes that they have to like it or be into it.

Yes and no. Yes, as in the Steam release has slowed the progress of the overall story. No, because updates that lead nowhere and are "just" filler material were always part of the development cycle, long before the daughter ventured out into the zone.

Not the popularity is the problem but the asymmetrical story telling and the ever growing roster. A lot of exposition isn't tied to the main storyline and it's difficult to give those scenes meaning without making a huge mess.

"Sigh... Fine. But try to stay professional about it..."
Hope you had a nice week! The recap of this week is pretty simple, I put all the time into the continued Pepper content that is available after the new mutant mission and I almost completed it. With over 130 renders you will get multiple stages of content, and this time, she will have to use more than her hands to get your DNA...
Next week I want to focus on other small scenes and possibly zipping the content tie a bit more. I want to get the update ready for November, and there is still a lot left to be done, but I'm positive.
Render progress:
Mutant's quest II: 95%
Pepper's lab: 90%
Repeatable events:
- Sparring with Shani: 60%
- Igor repeatable visit: 10%
- Raider throne room repeatables: 5%
- Mutants repeatable sex events: 0%
Reworks (& folder names):
Shani's first adventure (d2e): 100%
Back from the pyramid: (d2f): 0%
Ivy's test; mistreated slave (d3b): 20%
Shani and MC in old Cairo (d3c): 10%

I think you are partially correct.

The way I see it is that Shani's mission to the Zone was probably made a bit too early in the story. The content with other household members was not to that level yet.

The "problem" of this game is that there are a lot of story lines. Some main storylines, like the upcoming conflict with the decayed and the MC's job of finding artifacts and allies in order to win this conflict, but also how the MC is increasing his influence with the Queen. And several side stories, such as Ig*r, Rabiah, Katarina etc. etc. As well as the household events, which need to keep up with the rest of the story. It's really a lot and the dev team has a hard job doing all of that. And not only making that content but also in a way that it makes sense (and here I think that they kind of overstepped with Shani's first mission).

On the other hand, all this varied content is also what makes this game great.

I mean... Can't really please everyone. If there's not enough porn and too much story telling, people complain. If there's lots of porn but not with the fan favorites or [insert favorite girl here], then people complain. And of course if the VN has content that certain insecure F95ers object to... then they'll complain about it over... and over... and over again... Even to the point of writing a stupid script to block posts mentioning everyone's favorite bro so that they don't get triggered.

As a sucker for vanilla/romance porn VNs, my personal opinion has always been that good storytelling is a nice bonus, but the important thing is good character writing and good character interactions. I want to give a shit about the characters and at least for me, the story is mostly just a vehicle to get to know the characters. So I'm perfectly fine with the amount of side content in Desert Stalker because even the side girls have their interesting subplots and unique flavors.

With that said, Desert Stalker really is one of the few games where I'm actually impressed by the world building too. So I do look forward to the broader story in Desert Stalker but the side content is awesome too. Besides, My favorite girls are Fairy (healed), Emelia, and Ivy(Yuna), so I'm probably going to be waiting a while before any more substantial development with any of them.
