Hey everyone, another quite stressful week has passed, but at least I can let you know that we will most likely have the update ready sometime between mid to late August. It's taking a bit longer than initially expected because this is the first update with our first two-dev renders, tons of fixes that have accumulated from previous updates, and other behind-the-scenes work that keeps taking up more time than I would like.

At least there's only one last juicy part of the NSFW content left... and the number of images I can't show you because of spoilers is getting ridiculous. I don't think there's a single scene in this update that's free of spice.

Once the others are back from their summer break, we'll wrap this up. 1300 renders of new content and counting!

Render progress:
- MC & Queen short visit: 100%
- Shani visits Mandisa: 100%
- Mission briefing with the Queen: 100%
- Shani & MC on a mission: 90%
- Shani enters the bath: 100%
- Chili at the gym: 100%
- Post-raid rewards: 90%

Harem scenes:
- Kateryna solo: 95%
- Fairy solo: 90%

Other:
- New Visit Zahra renders: 70%
- Room visit variations: 100%
- Various polishing: 90%

Script writing: 0%
Animations: 35%

(Note: I use percentages as a sort of progress through the scene script itself. The last 5% can take longer than the first 30% - it is not always proportional to the render amount.)

Obviously the talks about the Dev milking this game have to be an attempt at ragebait, because no one in their right mind would ever say these things about a game of this quality that puts out an udpdate, usually with plenty of content, every 4 months on average.
What do they say about the games the come out once a year?

i noticed the file size is only 4.2 gb, whereas for 0.17 version it was 4.8 gb, are we losing in quality or something??

I think because they had to switch to a more up-to-date version of the software they were using to make DS. So my theory is that the updated version (I cant remember what its called) has better file management and compression. However dont take my word on it. regarding the files. I do know they switched though.

They changed the image compression I think. Anyhow if you can't tell the difference without looking at file size it's all good

Some distros automatically make the unzipped package non-executable by default. When that happens, you'll need to fix the permissions.

chmod u+x -R 'Desert Stalker v0.18.3-market'/

Then you should be able to run the shell script as an executable from the Desert Stalker directory with ./*.sh. (tip: just make a bash alias for that and call it "vn". At least that's what I do. I launch all my renpy games that way)

If you're still having issues, then consider just using the Renpy Launcher (aka Renpy SDK), from Renpy.org. With that method, you just have to put your renpy games in your Renpy SDK dir, and run renpy.sh. You can launch any renpy game this way on linux, even if it's a windows only build.
