Saying I'm milking people because I haven't released anything in 8 months is dumb. I made the equivalent of 3 updates during that time. And I could have released these updates, but I didn't want them to end in a boring way like 0.12.

It's also worth noting that I still can't work full-time on this project. I did quit my part-time job a couple months ago to allocate more time on the game, but I don't want to risk quitting my studies yet. Especially that a Steam release isn't guaranteed, in which case I'd be completely fucked if I decided to quit everything today without getting my degree AND not even get on Steam.

My workflow is also different than most other devs. There's a reason very few people use Virt-A-Mate for their games, and an even better reason why (as far as I know) none of them look like this:

ch1-1681s.png

It's a fucking pain to make VaM look like this consistently.

But I'm still choosing it over DAZ or HS2 any day, mostly because of its huge potential for animations, but also because it makes DESIRIUM unique.

And Wojtek96 what are you doing, praying on my downfall? Every person supporting the project is getting me closer to the final goal of working full-time as a game dev, and guess what, delivering faster updates. :WeSmart:

Anyway, enjoy this free preview I’m reluctantly sharing on this pirates site before everyone else sees it. Anyone still complaining after reading this message, goodnight and fuck you. I'm gonna sleep.

There's really no need to get defensive about milking accusations. It happens to every dev on this forum and always from the freeloaders.

If these comments bothered you it was a bad idea to say it's the equivalent of 3 updates. You just opened yourself up to a ton of shit if the update feels short

This post raises two questions to me. And this isn't meant to be a dig at all. I'm not invested in this game enough yet to be mad at the developer for not supplying the Desirium-goodness in a timely fashion.

One - When you talk about making this your full time job, wouldn't it be better to release smaller, spicy updates every 2-3 months instead of a big one every.. 8+ months? That way, the project stays in the broader masses' heads, no? Even games like Eternum used to have a 4-6 month update cycle in the beginning, and the guy pulled a lot of supporters from the first game he made. Newer games such as Steps of Debauchery, which has become very successful, updated at a frequent rate in the beginning and only now has a Quick update -> Slow update cycle.

Two - Is this pirate site a net negative, or is it a positive, generally? I'm not sure how people even stumble upon these games nowadays. Reddit? Is anyone actually browsing Patreon, itch.io or subscribestar, just looking to buy a game after looking at a half-baked synopsis and a few renders?

Also, on a personal note, I want to say that I think your game looks insanely good and you are 100% right that it stands out among all the HS2 / DAZ games. If this was another DAZ game, I probably wouldn't have given it a try, since too many of those are coming out and they're all hollow as hell on the inside.

Absolutely not, quite the opposite!

The bitterness is speaking through me precisely because I can't wait for this update, but at the same time, such a long wait for an update reminds me of a lot of other games I was fascinated by that were abandoned (Duality, False Hero, Evermore, Inertia, Astral Lust, HHG, Acquainted, BBS, Stray Incubus and many, many, many more)

Each of these games followed the same pattern:
increasingly infrequent updates
announcing dev problems (family, work, illness, accidents, finances, equipment failures, global economy)
a few "proof of life" announcements
and finally abandonment

But of course, Patreon has been active all these months!

And maybe I've activated a defense mechanism in case you're another dev like that...

Look, you could have enough content worth 10 updates, not just 3, fact is, there's two things here making their criticism valid: first, this type of development "progress" led, in a lot of other relatively similar cases, to an incoming abandoned tag communicated by the devs themselves cuz of reasons or the mods cuz of the forum rules, and second, unless you plan on making major changes to the coding or whatever every single update, the only actual dumb thing is to not release anything at all and claim you have sooo much content on your SSD/hard drive that, for some interesting reason, you won't share with your supporters, not us.

Sorry for the harsh observation, but try to see where ppl here are coming from when they're being too critical of a game they like and consider very promising (me too btw), support (some of them) and want to see it get completed.

This isn't the first or last time a dev said something along those lines before vanishing into the sunset with their patrons hard-earned money AND, more importantly, this isn't the first or last time again, a dev bites off more than they can chew... I'd say a lil skepticism IS warranted after hearing so many empty promises.

Now, I'm not saying your statement is 100% wrong, but occasionally posting a few pretty preview pics doesn't necessarily mean you're a 100% right either, looking at the situation from our perspective as fans of your work, so I'm personally just gonna wait on an actual release before deciding whether I'll believe what you saying or not.

Don't mean to sound sarcastic or disrespectful when saying this, but I do hope you manage to finish the game, make a name for yourself in the AVN gaming community and make as much money as possible off it, and I'm convinced I'm not the only one in this thread wanting to see this happen.

Keep your head up, and best of luck with the development !!(y)

But of course, Patreon has been active all these months!

It's a valid concern so far, and it'll stay like that until the results are showing clear proof of it being just a wrong assumption.

Maybe I shouldn't have jumped to bigger updates that fast, and continue making multiple smaller ones for now so I can gain traction faster, but 0.13 is also a bit of a first experiment: I was curious to see how would a big update perform. As I said, I want this one to end nicely, and it should leave most people wanting more.

Yes, it makes perfect sense for anyone to be impatient at this point, simply because 8 months+ is a huge jump compared to the usual ~3 months. However, there's a difference between impatience, and saying I'm a lazy milker who will end up abandoning the project. Okay, it might look like I'm 'following a pattern', and I understand if you're concerned by that because you've experienced it before with other games, but this 'pattern' just doesn't apply to me. I love what I'm doing, and I'm serious about wanting to be a full-time dev. I have absolutely zero intention to abandon this project. I know it has a huge potential to change my life, and I don't plan on throwing that away.

So, thank you to everyone who understands my situation, and please let me finish cooking.

You didn't address just one issue. You declared exactly four months ago that you'd finish in 1-2 months, so you're already 2-3 months behind schedule (since then, our concerns about you have intensified)

I'm glad you're starting to realize you're not dealing with mindless criticism, but with people who have reasonable concerns that you're starting to get dangerously close to the pattern of scammers who abound in this industry.

PS:
And since it looks like you still have a while to finish, maybe there's still time to address another issue

As you can see below, Kayla has disproportionately huge butt and thighs

Could she have a firm, smaller one?
Or is it absolutly impossible to do it at this stage of game development?

Honestly I think this game is totally worth it, the developer takes his time to do things right and that's what sets it apart from many others, I think a possible solution would be to post a message from time to time with an approximate progress, just come and write 80% and that way you get an idea of how much time is left and also let people know that the game is not abandoned, even if it takes 8 months to upload the game you already have that information in advance and there's not as much despair among people. That's my humble opinion

I don't know why you're writing this to me

At no point did I suggest that I would pay him (or not) depending on whether he did what I said

All my comments were only meant to show others that ElCharlo is following a pattern I've seen here many, many times
and it's not a glorious pattern...

Unless you try to deny that milking fans and abandoning games is a real problem here, whity112

I didn't say I'd release it in 1-2 months, I said I wanted to.

As for Kayla, I have like 10+ different versions of her (same goes for all characters), and the game cover was made a while ago with the older character versions. But the angle / exaggerated arching and some clothing also makes it look bigger. In a natural pose, it looks more like this:

She does have generous thighs and ass for her frame, but that's just how it is :BootyTime:
