Yup.

By the way WERE you guys able to run it the first time, or it hadn't worked right off the bat? As I said, curiously, it worked for me the first time (like, five days ago) but fucked shit up for itself afterwards apparently, and clicking 'Start Game' now doesn't do jack shit anymore.
Btw, I also deleted anything I could find from the game in the Users folder and even in the registry, but... Alas.

Nah, I've never been able to start the game. What happened to you is curious though...

Weird af... Here's an idea. Has...ANYONE been able to play the game since, say, Monday this week? Like, play it now? The answer is probably yes, but just in case. (I'd say I've seen weirder, but I'd be lying lol)

And I definitely haven't changed anything, or at least anything that I could possibly conceive as relevant, since. So my theory is that perhaps my relatively new install of W10 hasn't yet had the chance to meet a random steam-cracked unity H-game that could potentially eff up something that can make it or some other unity games technically unstartable after giving it a try and it screwing up something upon exit.
Or, more likely, I couldn't find *everything* it wrote into the registry and the system drive, bc maybe there aren't just "Honey Pie" and "Devil's Dungeon" keys/files there, but maybe some Chinese keys/files, or wherever Honey Pie is based is also created (and maybe got corrupted) which I wasn't able to find; that said, it would mean that everyone else would have had to encounter something similar, beforehand.
Also, and I shit you not, I installed 'Needy Girl Overdose' from the fitgirl torrent, and THAT actually made my RE8-Village not start up anymore, as it turned out later (and yes, the Resident Evil is a cracked version too - sue me xD); still I was lucky/intuitive enough to guess that maybe it could have been the reason for RE8 not working anymore. And after uninstalling the fitgirl repack game, lo and behold, wham, RE8 ran again. So something along the lines of steam cracks SOMEHOW being at odds with each other. Trouble is, again, you guys would have to have been doing something similar, AND ALSO, I sadly sincerely can't recall if all this shit went down before me first actually running this game... If it did, well, then it could have had nothing to do with it. Also, RE8 isn't Unity... Though Needy Girl Overdose is...

This is some weird shit... lol
(also probs wasn't worth the wall of text, hehe)
----------------
EDIT: Scratch all of that. Well, maybe... So, in the data folder there's 'Plugins' with what I assume are the cracked steam .dll files that help the game work for us dirty shameless pirates. Right? Now this is just a hunch, but Steamworks.NET was updated 3 days ago... Suspect. (however that's connected to the Steam games and their authorization and the patched .dlls, little non-tech savvy me has no means to know, though) But that would mean noone here should be able to play for now...

For what I am reading in the thread, everyone has the same problem as us

I thought the exact same thing as your EDIT

Okay, we are not really getting anywhere. And this thing kinda triggered me, apparently... lol

As writers of reviews -and as such, some peeps who definitely were able to play the game 8-9 days ago-, may I ask kaizoman, TheOtherDragonborn and Doctor Shark, if they still happen to have the game; could they confirm whether it still works for them or not, please?
Same question I guess for takkeen, rKnight, Lucifer84, Kalambeln, Lunarius, AraonTheDrake, iloveporn69420, WildCookie and YdenMkII from the first page of the thread. Could you guys help with the troubleshoot? If you still perchance have the game, can I ask you to just try and give it a run again and see if it works ('Start Game')? Thanks.

I unfortunately do not have the copy I originally played, but I can confirm the issue you all seem to be having on redownloading it.

Interestingly, the album button is also gone even though I had completed the game. That would indicate that there has been a silent update since then that probably borked it.

I had deleted it (but not done anything with my registry or anything) so redownloaded from Zippyshare and am also no longer able to play. Options and Exit Game buttons work but Start Game button does not.

Okay. Here's the silent update that effed it up for everyone. Probably. Maybe. (9th, February)
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
And here are all the files which we would need from a working version that would make things work again (ergo all the updated files bw. the 220205 and (SILENT)updated 220209)...

A whole whooping 1,37 MB between all (four) of them. So if someone were inclined to help us with these as an attachment to a post maybe, please don't hold back. Would be appreciated.

That said... Though HOW THE ACTUAL FUCK (and why?) this would break a cracked version uploaded on 2022/02/04 which we set up not to phone anywhere (as in we are not letting it through our firewall), I DO NOT comprehend. I mean, does it have something to do with Steam installed on a system and how the patch (is supposed to) work(s)? Heck, haven't even logged into/autoupdated Steam in a good while, and it supposedly is not even starting up with my Windows.

What is this heresy?!?! xD
Someone endarken me.

Was checking the dll and noticed a weird validation so I removed it, game seems to be working now.

Haven't tested enough, use at your own risk.
Tested, It lets you play the game, but the gallery and the DLC images that show after you beat each level are having problems.
