Do you prefer a game with male or female protagonist?

I absolutely prefer male, but sadly seem to be very few of them(and even fewer that's gotten translated), especially in the "indie" scene. Bigger projects often have a male protaconist(Alice Soft games etc).

Male protags only if there is an option for NTR or rape. Otherwise I feel it's too vanilla, or in case of incest ridiculous, to make me interested. Since proper NTR is difficult and rare on a western scene and rape is almost non-existent, female protags are much better. There are some really good virgin corruption games with huge potential like Vis Major or Bright Past. Especially sandbox type of games like BP or Glamour are growing decently and I really feel like with male protag they would be endlessly more difficult for development to make it interesting. I'm not sure about Patreon "VN" we have here tho. Games with female protags are built around corruption and usually progress slowly and it doesn't feel right with how Patreon works. A Wife and Mother is the greatest example of a VN that's being more and more affected by Patrons because of its pace. All in all I feel like FMC is usually just a better choice

If it's a text or text+real porn game, you could just let people pick and run with it with minimal custom pathing. Assuming you're not squeamish about homosexual content you can throw everyone a bone. Personally I could never do it, I don't even like hetero anal scenes.

With renders it would obviously far less interesting, doubles the work. Though sissy games have a respectable niche, hetero/lesbian is still far bigger (regardless of protagonist).

I strongly prefer female protagonists. Not to say I can't enjoy a male protagonist game but on the balance I'm definitely more likely to enjoy a female protagonist one.

Especially when I can make the girl very sexually open so all their sexual encounters are something they enjoy because I very much prefer the girl enjoying it to rape scenarios.

I always prefer a properly defined character over an empty character that you are supposed to role play as.

I think we're limiting ourselves here, games regularly focus on just one MC, or more often than not a player character that becomes either: faceless and boring for males to encourage projection of ourselves onto the character, which i personally find lazy and boring or in the case of a female character an (i don't want to be a )slut and continues to bang her way through the cast anyway.

Break the mold a little, try having a couple as the main characters, you don't need to worry about polarising the audience on the male/female split and you get a lot of narrative freedom, multiple events going on in different places and the like, the downside comes when the female character has sex with a male other than the leading man and the audience cries NTR, although if you kept her predominantly lesbian other than with the MC that could work, or even make her hard lesbian and have a more wingman style relationship between the main two.

just don't limit yourself to thinking that their are only two options, having multiple characters that fill different roles gives you flexibility to tell the story you want to tell, or more likely write situations that you find sexy without breaking character.

What I prefer in a game pretty much depends ON the game. Some of them work best with one or the other, other ones pretty much need one in specific. If the game is well-made enough, it shouldn't matter what the gender of the MC is, and if it does to people, well, that's their business, but I'd like to try as many possible games as I can really

It really depends on the context of the game, I like both for opposite reasons. As a guy you get to fuck beautiful (or so we hope) women, sure. As a girl I feel like they're a puppet on strings that I can get to do all the things I'd want a woman to do anyway, sometimes as a guy you don't get the option of making them do those things.

I think for more story driven games I prefer playing as a male MC, it's a lot easier to become immersed as I can relate more. It also results in much more variety in my experience. Whereas for games that are more of just a sexual romp I prefer taking the reigns of a female for the reason I gave above.

Total opposite. I am the MC so he has to be male. With a female MC i feel like when i have to do something like fuck a guy or even a girl, it's NTR for me as I AM the MC and being a girl MC she is my girl and i don't want to share her with anyone... Jealous much :0)

While I always prefer Male as MC, but you all should treat every games differently, unless it's the same genre & story type. Usually, when play Male as MC games, I do imagine the MC is me. But when I play Female as MC, I just like reading some story, not imagine myself as the female MC. Of course I'm avoiding NTR/Cuck content, but Female MC isn't NTR by default, it just your own assumption and how you treat the game as you want to.

I can't forced you this 'point of view' ... but let's wait till you all running out of good games in F95, then you might start to look at the Female MC games and play it. In the end, QUALITY > Personal Ego. You will appreciate the good, and will throw away all the shits, no matter the content. (Still, nope to gay & futa's content though ... )

Either works for me though I prefer a male mc or futa if we r doing lots of rape. Women really don't give that same aura of intimidation with rape unless u got a lewd one-san pushing a shota to the ground or a strong amazon women wrestling an average joe guy to the point he says uncle. I typically prefer to play as male protagonists, but that doesn't mean you should make a game with a male protagonist. The game is whatever you make it, everything in it depends on you to create it. When you try to make a game simply in order to appeal to the audience, it can often stymie your thoughts which results in a worse game than if you rely on your own plans.
