Some tougher challenges would be needed to make combat slaves or improved mercs worthwhile IMO.

My thought was for some increasingly tougher small towns moving away from your fortress, and maybe even a raidable city or cities. With stronger defence that could serve as endgame targets, maybe giving some better/unique slaves as rewards.
I completely agree, there’s still a lot of work to be done and features I want to add on the combat side of the game.

Different tiers of villages with varying levels of defense were actually part of my original plan, I haven’t managed to implement that yet but I totally will.

Right now, my main priority is making your slaves and your relationship with them feel more alive. That said, I’m working on adding bandit camps in the next update to introduce at least one new level of combat challenge in the meantime.

I am really enjoying this so far. I'll be subbing your patron when I get paid. If you do everything you want to do with your Free Cities inspiration this will be a huge hit for me. Just please don't make it as complex as Masters of Ranna. I like that game but everything fluctuates entirely too much and makes you have to micromanage to keep things where you want them. Great work so far, man. Really looking forward to following this as it progresses

Just please don't make it as complex as Masters of Ranna. I like that game but everything fluctuates entirely too much and makes you have to micromanage to keep things where you want them. I'm really glad to hear you're enjoying the project! Masters of Raana has been sitting on my backlog for a long time, but I’ll check it out to see what you mean. That said, I don’t think it’ll be an issue for you. The goal is to focus more on sandbox roleplaying, which tends to have more streamlined management compared to games that prioritize micromanagement or strategy.

The idea is quite nice tbh (had a blast since it's one of the few of its niche and I quite like this niche) but the content is extremely early stage and frankly speaking there isn't much to do. I haven't really gone through what others recommended but I hope you could consider adding the following features (in no particular order of preference from my end),

1) Maybe add an option for slaves to dominate the domitum/domitumess. You could further explore this by say giving titles and the like.
2) Add guests/residents much like "Apocalyptic World".
3) Allow slaves to have combat niches and the likes.
4) Also maybe add some side quests or something similar since even if you do add a lot of stuff it's still going to seem like a minor update considering the open nature of the game, though if you want to preserve the open nature of the game well then consider this suggest void. Though I don't mean to change the nature of the game but add more color to it ig, because the game seems very monotonous.
5) Oh also the travel system is sort of annoying but well ig that's just me.

I'm planning to add dynamics like you mentioned, probably by having "bratty" slaves. That said, I don’t currently plan to let the player literally become their slave, as that would require a completely different gameplay.
2) Add guests/residents much like "Apocalyptic World".
I definitely want to add non-slave, non-mercenary NPCs to the fortress eventually. It’s something I have in mind for the future. Right now my focus is on developing more interactions between you and your slaves but expanding this to other NPCs is on the plans.

The idea of using slaves in combat has come up before. In the game world, slaves typically aren't allowed to fight as combat is considered honorable. That said, your mention of "combat niches" made me think about alternative roles, like slaves boosting morale, carrying banners, or playing war drums. Those are really interesting ideas, and I’ll think more about them.

Great point! The biggest challenge of developing this kind of sandbox game while releasing builds is having to build the core systems and add content at the same time. Releasing more scripted quests could be a smart way to deliver content without depending too heavily on unfinished systems. I’ll seriously consider that, thanks for the thoughtful suggestion.

Fair enough. There's still a lot to be improved in the movement system and the overworld.

do you even played the game ? this is not how this work.
playing as dommy mommy not femdom enough for you ?

Like the game, but wishing you could see a direct progress result, like, in tabular data or anything, to see if your prostitutes are doing well or not. Right now we just skim through the log and check if she's making good coins or not, feels like it could be improved so it's more meaningful as report, maybe?

This is really promising, even with the gameplay loop and game in general being quite early on its road. Couple of random thoughts, mostly QoL things, really:

More interaction with your mercs would be cool, maybe ability to use APs to slowly upgrade their fighting skill at the cost of upkeep rising as well? Maybe even some action with them, kinda looking at Fort of Chains here and ability to be sub to your Slavers in that game, that was pretty fun. They're NPCs, so lizard brain yearns for more to do with them, rather than them being pretty much one-and-done kind of thing.

Expanded customization, hair dyes and some unnatural colours there, ability to customize your character and the merc uniforms could be fun thing to tweak, so you could decide to go around as leather-and-chains Mad Max-style crazies on one end and the tailored suits and elegant masks on the other.

This one is a bit finicky, but it would really help the trader part of the game - I noticed that every settlement has its own preferences, it would be great to have settlement names show up on the map and then the Slaves have a tab showing something like top 3 settlements where they're most attractive, or '???' if it wasn't visited yet, encouraging to both roam around and come up with actual routes.

I’m planning to eventually include a feature like this for situations where your slave is "bratty" or hate you. That said, the game is primarily focused on being a dom so these scenes will be optional. Also you’ll never officially take on the role of a slave since that would require completely different gameplay

I’m glad you like it! I totally agree, the prostitution system in the game is still pretty rough. I’m still figuring out the best way to display that data but we’ll get there

Yeah, I fully plan on adding more features to mercs once the relationship system with slaves is more developed. Upgrades, personal and sexual interactions, and a more in-depth combat system will all play a big role in the game. I’ll also check out what you mentioned about Fort of Chains, it sounds interesting!

Absolutely, I want the customization to have all of that. I love your idea about customizing the merc uniforms! I hadn’t thought of it before, but what you’re describing sounds awesome

That’s an interesting idea. I’d say having a way to view a slave’s score across multiple cities is one of my QoL priorities right now, so there should be improvements in that area soon.
