the game has 1600+ reviews.
some games which I considered much more popular (it's subjective of course but still) have like 500+, some even below 200 or 100.
That's because of his strategy of making the start of the game free, like a demo. Thousands and thousands played it on Steam because it was free and so it already had a good base audience.
Now how many of those people bought Chapter 2 or joined Patreon is another thing.

well, the game definitely is not forgotten.
after buying last update on steam I got curious and checked reviews.. the game has 1600+ reviews.

I dunno about his Patreon, but I would say the DEV is fine, considering that it's not his full time job, might be wrong of course...

also, I admit, even though updates are slow due to some legit reasons, the render quality is top notch, his unusual (hard way) technic pays off for sure.
When I say forgotten, I mean here in the forum itself; many come back to comment on something after an update is released and the topic is posted.

On my side of things im waiting till Chapter 3 probably maybe 4 till I buy on steam just cause there is other AVN's I rather buy and well I didn't play this till Ch 2 was out so id like to see at least one full dev cycle before I purchase the game.

Based on the achievements, only 13% of those who downloaded completed the demo, and of those, 3% finished chapter 2.

And I can say that it's really rewarding to earn these achievements; I highly recommend it.

yeah, makes sense
i just checked and 1st chapter is for free indeed

interesting was it always like it?
I mean I bought it right away, quality was too good, and it was like few years ago at least.

EDIT: well, if it was for free from the start - then yeah, your theory works:

I'm one of the 87% who couldn't complete it on Steam because my potato PC exploded in the animated scenes, one crash after another :HideThePain:.
On the pirate version here, I was able to tweak a few things and with a bit of black magic I managed to complete it, what a shame I need to buy a GPU urgently.
The percentage of chapter 2 should be lower because it's paid content, but I'm still surprised how low it is.

Yes, it was always free, in fact I was very surprised until chapter 2 came out that it was paid and then I understood the plan to follow, but it was still very cheap.

I don't know your level of experience with Ren'Py, but if you unpack the RPA from Steam and replace the images with the compressed version, it will work.

Speaking of the developer, he removed me from Patreon for sharing the image previews here on the forum.
this DEV really only has that exclusive content and sometimes some 4K wallpapers. To be honest, it wasn't worth paying what I was paying; I just kept doing it to keep this thread updated.
Damn its beyond me why any dev would do that (as long as you dont leak the updates too), never heard of that before
Well, there y'all have it, stop defending him and let the guy earn his forgiveness through his actions... don't let promises speak louder than actions. After this lil stunt he pulled, all honesty and professionalism are thrown straight out the window. But seriously now, I saw turtles 'running' faster than this guy's developing the game, and when two of his generous patrons decided it was a good idea to help him make more money by reaching a larger audience through those dev logs and previews they posted here, the wise guy simply bans them for something he should've thanked and maybe even offered them a few special rewards.

I find this "but he ain't working full time on the game" excuse really tiring and borderline ridiculous by now. I understand the dev having a personal life and a family to provide for, he ain't the only one in this boat tho, but with each passing month, I'm growing increasingly suspicious of his commitment to actually finishing the game, and there's at a least a few reasons supporting this claim.

So, you see, there's an interesting pattern here some of them have been following. New dev pops up impressing the community with a great-looking game visualwise, a promising story too, releases a few updates to build-up a fanbase with which they try to interact as much as they can at first, and then the 'technicalities' start happening resulting in longer, frequent delays, less and less communication till complete radio silence and bans from Discord, Patreon and SS for everyone who dares to ask about updates or criticize the dev for doing the obvious thing. I'm not saying this a 100% sure thing happening in our case too, hopefully not, but we can't pretend things are not that bad and the game's future is still all sunshine and rainbows either. We'll see how good this post is gonna age.

On another note, I'm really curious to know why Steam, the oh-so-holier moral crusaders, allow devs to sell unfinished games, with at least one finished season, on their platform, instead of tagging them as what they really are, demos or WIPs, but lose their shit over some sexual stuff in damn fictional porn games.

Uh who was defending him?

Dont really read a lot in this thread but usually he always got heat for way too small updates, loooooooong development time and not being able to keep his deadlines at all. And occasionally for the somewhat strange story and even stranger character behavior lol

the visual quality is like the only good thing about this avn

The "he's only working on the game in his free time/part-time" guys who defended him so far, not you, it's mentioned in the second paragraph. And a dev doing what Dokiden did is bound to get them a lot of criticism and complaining, and it's prolly the main reason why he banned the two guys that were keeping us posted with the development status.

Yeah, the girls look gorgeous, but we basically know almost nothing about them, except that they have some sort of baggage (Mei), are basic hoes looking for good dicks (Leah and Danielle), or don't know what they really want, an fwb or an actual BF (Summer).

The only safe options for a stable relationship so far seem to be Katherine, whom we don't know anything about, and Alice, who's the stereotypical sheltered country girl looking to meet new ppl she could become friends with and find herself a man to take her virginity. Her asshole dad and creepy bro are red flags IMO or they're put there for comic release. Dunno, we'll have to wait and see if this is the case in the next updates, assuming the game won't be abandoned.

yeah I don't care about the story just visuals and like 2 character's and that is with bad character deveolopment. While the rest of the characters I don't hate yet just dont view them as anything more than character to play for content. Like Danielle for example I'm curious to see how bat shit crazy she gets when you play her path and cheat but that is purely for content could care less about her.

I think summer is okayish (weird that she immediatly thought the mc is the stalker tho) and kinda the only one i like.

At first i thought Mei is cute and a cool LI but she just looks crazy off her path. Immediatly deeming the mc (who shes supposedly so much in love with) an unredeemable asshole womanizer :ROFLMAO:
