Regarding incest, I don't think this has anything to do with the legal status of this kind of relations in the US or any other country. Mostly, this has to do with the fact it is a taboo —which is part of what makes it attractive— and negatively perceived by many people. If Patreon, like YouTube, for example, is trying to build a determined image for the site, one that makes it relatively safe for any person surfing the site, they need to make sure no potentially "shocking" content is visible that can scare off some potential visitors/users.

The fact that creators are resorting to just hiding the "controversial" content makes it explicit that this is, at the moment, merely a matter of public image. Highly hypocritical, if you ask me —on a side note, I find it extremely funny and paradoxical that there are so many millions of fans of Game of Thrones enjoying a story in which incest is pervasive and at the very core of the narrative—, but understandable from a commercial point of view.

Which is really kind of silly, like haven't they looked and seen what the big money makers on youporn/etc and amateur clip sites have been for the past two or three years.

(spoiler alert it is incest roleplay, hell it has become the big seller for pretty much every major porn house in the US and Japan for a while now)

Like they are financially shooting themselves in the foot over the need to cater to "all audiences." Because really, who has even heard of patreon outside of the adult content sections, it isn't like they are kickstarter or steam early access, and they never are going to be.

If you read their message you will see it's all about violence. Rape is rape, bestiality is always an act of violence on an animal, incest is the same as it's most of the time a father/brother abusing his daughter/sister. In real life it's strongly connected with violence as well in most cases. I wonder if tentacles are ok...

Agreed. That's why I said they are being hypocritical. I don't know, maybe they are trying to appeal to other audiences while trying to maintain what keeps the fire going in the fireplace —thus, this "hide the dope so that it doesn't smell when your aunt is visiting" politic—, but, as you say, I think that might be dangerous, too. Maybe there will be someone soon who will think of providing a safer, better space for that kind of content to grow unmolested.

It could very well be paypal or banks pulling this off. Since in many countries its illegal to do this kind of stuff. So they are now clamping hard. Just a thought. Also yeah I am in chat right now that pretty much states DoD will be back up soon.

If there is a big enough, uproar from their patrons, I think they will have to do something about it. They are not in the business of losing money.
I don't think thats going to happened. There is a weird thing, that some companies do "well we didn't want your money anyway". So we will see
